Supervia's Incomparable Carmen, May 3, 2005

I will sum up my feelings about this disc in 4 declarative sentences:
1. Spanish mezzo-soprano Conchita Supervia (1895-1936) was quite simply the most tantalizing, most teasing, flat-out sexiest Carmen EVER.
2. Everything else on this CD is wonderful, but the Carmen excerpts are in a class of their own.
3. Pearl's exemplary transfers are FAR superior to those heard on Nimbus Prima Voce CD 7836/7, which sounds like it was recorded under water.
4. No self-respecting fan of great singing should pass this up!
