5.0 out of 5 stars The Concise Guide to Today's Religions and Spirituality
This book has definitions of the modern "church" of today. Those "churches" to beware of as well as others. I found it very helpful and gave each of my grandchildren, who are just entering college, one of the books. All young people could use this book to help them make decisions about their church. To beware of what the church is saying. Of course the Bible is the...

I would not reccomend reading this book straight through, unless you are fond of reading Webster's Dictionary. It is exactly that, but for religion, not lexiconigraphy. In alphabetical order, hundred of religious terms are defined; the good, the bad, and the heretical, all together. I would have found it more helpful had they been separated into a section for Christian...

I would not reccomend reading this book straight through, unless you are fond of reading Webster's Dictionary. It is exactly that, but for religion, not lexiconigraphy. In alphabetical order, hundred of religious terms are defined; the good, the bad, and the heretical, all together. I would have found it more helpful had they been separated into a section for Christian orthodoxy and another section for the counter-Christian beliefs; however, it does what it says on the tin. It is a concise guide to anything spiritual, arranged in a way that you can easily find what you are looking for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Christianity & Cults, August 16, 2010
The author is an ordained minister and has a Master's degree in Theology. This is a dictionary- type referance book with entries for every letter in the alphabet, from Christianity to cults. Browse denominations and investigate cults. Says here Aleister Crowly died in 1975? Has an entry for Anton Lavey. I would recommend it, but it's not a classic. Christianity is the same ideology as a cult.
