This book has VERY brief outlines of each area of Clinical Lab Science. Unfortunately it doesn't have indepth descriptions that are necessary in order to do well on multiple choice exams. I recommend this as a supplement to Prentice Hall Q&A Review of Med Tech/CLS (#0838503403), which has very detailed descriptions.

Good book.,

Good book. I studied with this book among other books and passed both the MT and the MLT(ASCP) exams. The information is not too in depth but can give the reader a good general (concise?) review of Clinical Laboratory Science.

Must have for MLT students!,

I am the Program Director for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program. I require this book for my students to use when they are doing their clinical rotations. It provides a quick, concise outline of each of the laboratory departments. My students love it for a quick review before starting each department. They also love the questions at the end of each chapter, not only does Hubbard give them the right answer but also the rationale behind the answer.

This is a wonderful book for college student,

This book is excellent for people that are in College and majoring in Hemotology or any kind of Medical Technology. I am in my fifth year of college and when I needed to get certified I used this book and it was remarkable. I couldn't believe how much I learned and how easy it was compared to other books I have read. If you need to get certified in this field this book is great.

I've had this book for several years now. Used it to pass the ASCP MLT exam and currently using it to study for the AAB MT Exam. The Chapters are written well with a study review at the end of each, and then a final overview test at the end. Very easy to read and understand, not as overwhelming as some of my other books. My copy is paperback but it has some sort of plastic cover on top that keeps it from coming apart with lots of use. This book sometimes is on backorder as I've had several co-workers order it after seeing mine, but it's worth the wait. A+++

This is one of the best books that I have ever studied. I am a student in Dr. Hubbard's class, and the class is just as good as the book. This book is organized well and effectively gets the point across!!! Buy this book. You won't be disappointed!

Used this book and the Polansky Reviews Cards to study for the ASCP Medtech exam and passed. This Joel Hubbard book focus on key points and highlights key words or featues for emphasis. Pictures which you can download online with a password inside the front cover and tables in the book help one to better understand things better through visuals.

i bought this book on the premise that the book was for students and working techs alike. keep it around the lab...
The written information is clear and to the point. On the other hand, the image bank is lacking, especially in parasitology just a couple drawing(not very good ones at that)not diagrams just 5year old drawings. Other pics that hit me as vague(at best) was the 1 of basophilic stippling of RBCs. if i was on a bench looking at it, i would never be able to pick it up with this book's online picture. i.e. i have seen Baso stippling. the good is that book is great for basic basics, but if u want anything specific on the individual disciplining(micro.b, haemo, parasite, histo.cyto) look for books focusing on the individual grouping

I have taught Clinical Laboratory Science for 26 years and I am constantly looking for good academic resources for my students. Recently, I saw a review of this book so I ordered a copy from Amazon. It is everything that the reviewer said it was. It is concise, but it contains all the important concepts and facts that I cover in my classes. It is ideal for a quick review of pertinent information before the certification examination. It would also be ideal for a review before a chapter exam while the student is still taking clinical courses. I recommend it wholeheartedly to my students. I only wish I had this book when I was preparing for my certification 30 years ago. Dr. Hubbard had written a truly excellent review book!!!

I bought some other study materials for the registry but I think this is the best and I still use it to brush up on areas of lab science. I think this would have been a great help while in school too because it explains things in a concise manner, along with the textbooks of course.
