I bought two!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Concord EyeQ 1300 Digital Camera (Electronics)
This is a nice little camera for the price. I bought one for my niece last Christmas. Not having any previous experience with digital cameras, I really didn't know what to expect. We used, and experimented with it on New Years Eve, taking pictures and short movies, and we were very pleased with the results. When I noticed that Amazon[.com] had it on sale, I bought one for myself. The software and USB cable that come with the camera work just fine for starters, but I prefer to use the Compact Flash card (I have a 128 meg), a reader, and my own photo editing software. I would recommend getting a battery charger with at least four AA batteries (this camera uses two). True, there is no LCD display for photo preview, but I never needed one on my film camera, so it's no big deal to me. Although the camera is easy to use, the indicator icons on the LCD display are VERY tiny and may take some getting used to. Other features of this camera are video output for viewing photos on TV, (cable included), web cam, tripod mount, self-timer, and flash with two modes. This camera is compact, and easily fits in a shirt pocket. I would recommend it to the occasional user who wants to try digital photography, but not ready to shell out big bucks.

2 out of 2 Eye-Q 1300s were defective,

The first one I bought seemed to function OK, except the viewfinder was way off. The captured image could be up, down, left, or right (or any combination thereof). The inaccuracy was so bad and so random as to render the camera useless. I exchanged it. The second one had a more accurate viewfinder. However, it took so long for the flash to charge up, the automatic power-off feature would shut off the camera before the flash was ready. I tried new batteries, but got no improvement. Price, software, cables & accessories, instructions, etc., is all great (hence, the 2 stars). Unfortunately, the camera itself is useless. Two bad examples is hardly a trend. On the other hand, you only get one chance to make a first impression, and I'm done with Concord.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Concord EyeQ 1300 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I received this camera as a birthday gift. I have yet to get it to work on my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times and I still cannot view the pictures on my PC. The tech support website is no help at solving the problem except to tell you what you already know. The editing software is great, but unfortunately I have not been able to use it. The other drawbacks to this camera are that it drains batteries like crazy and you cannot see the pictures until you load them into your computer. The flash takes so long to load that by the time it finally comes on, the picture-taking opportunity has passed. If I could actually get this camera to upload pictures to my computer, I might consider upgrading my rating to two stars.

NOT COMPATIBLE W/ WINDOWS XP,
By BlackPudn (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews

I bought this camera cause it APPEARED to be a good deal for my first digital camera. I researched cameras & features, so I felt confident on comparing the deals & features. Couldn't find any reviews on Ritzcamera.com's site or anywhere else. I spoke w/ a rep at the company, they highly recommended the camera. The camera gets here, I find out it doesn't have a monitor so I can view my pics as I take them. I start downloading the enclosed software to find that the camera is not compatible w/ Windows XP. So, I can't offer any help w/ the type of pics it takes because I didn't get that far. :(

Not Impressed!,

The camera was purchased at a great deal. Features seemed desirable, however, the images were awful! Images were too grainy. Webcam images were even worse! Software was easy to upload and camera's upload feature was good.

I got this camera as a Christmas present. I was upset it had no display in the back to see the pictures I took as I took them, but took a chance. The pictures I took were very low quality and were a little off of where I had meant to have them centered. It ate batteries like nothing I have ever used before (10 pictures every 2 batteries). The flash took ages to charge up, and the camera would either shut off or whoever I was taking a picture of was asleep by then (average of 30 seconds to a minute to charge back up). I had received the wrong memory for it, so exchanged it for the memory it took, but never got past 20 pictures (12 on the memory card, 8 on the camera) because we were all out of batteries by then. I decided to look at these new pictures (I deleted the awful bad ones from before) but never had a chance. It doesn't appear to work for Win 2000...it did work for Win 98. I called my mom and told her it was a bad present, that even though it didn't have a view screen and it was some company I had never heard of, I looked up other reviews (mostly bad) and gave it a try, and ruled it as an awful Christmas present. It's going back to K-Mart tomorrow. I'm glad she gave me the receipt.

A little frustrating, but good pictures,

Installing this camera onto Windows XP has been somewhat of a nightmare, I was never able to use the "driver" from the Concord website so I installed it with the original driver and for some reason now it works. My computer doesn't recognize the camera so I can't upload the pictures into any of my programs, I have to copy them and paste them into "My Pictures". But the minute I plug the camera into the computer, the pictures are instantly there. The picture quality is great, and the batteries are still fine (after 1 day.) However, I ran out of memory after 6 pictures. I guess I'll have to buy a CompactFlash card now.

concord eye Q 1300,

I am new to digital cameras, but I shouldn't be having this much trouble. I haven't been able to check it out very good because the batteries are dead before I can figure out what I'm doing. The icons are so small on the camera that I have a hard time to figure out what they are. So I'm very disappointed in the fact that it eats batteries so quickly. And they seem to die when I've got the cable hooked up to the computer. I shut the camera off and on again, playing with the mode button and the select button, and somewhere along in there, the batteries are dead. Am I doing something wrong? ...

Nice movies and stills with 1.3 MP camera,
By John Selmyname (MN USA) - See all my reviews

If you want a small, pocketable camera that shoots good stills (1.3 MP) and does QuickTime Movies, this is it. Not much to look at with NO LCD finder, but stick in a CF card and shoot all day. Then see your shots when you get home. No real zoom, but a nice little shooter. Some "shutter delay" and no half-step to firing that locks in the exposure. Still a good value.

I'M NOT NEW TO DIGITAL CAMERAS. I OWN A VIVITAR VIVICAM 3100 AND AN OLYMPUS D-370. PICTURE QUALITY ON SCREEN & PRINTING ON ALL 3 (INCLUDING THE CONCORD EYE Q 1300) ABOUT THE SAME IN HIGH RES. THE CONCORD COST ME...LESS THEN EACH OF THE OTHER TWO CAMERAS, AND INCLUDES BETTER SOFTWARE AND FEATURES! I'M IMPRESSED WITH THE CONCORD VIDEO (TV) OUTPUT FOR STILL PICTURES & MOVIE CLIPS THE OTHER TWO CAMERAS DON'T OFFER THESE HANDY FEATURES. JUST PLUG THE CAMERA IN TO ANY TV AND START VIEWING! PROS: 1.3 MEGAPIXEL, CONS: NO LCD PICTURE VIEWING, |
