I have an affinity for the music, in general, but I purchased this set to get an overview of its percussion usages and patterns -- a bit of self-study. The collection is great! Four CDs of recordings from various "name" artists in the genre for an incredible price. Tracks range from more traditional to jazz, with a few vocal tracks. The samples on this (Amazon) site are quite representative of the total collection. If you like the samples, you'll love the CDs.

I bought this as a gift for a jazz/ salsa lover who has heard it all. She simply loved it. Surprisingly, there were a lot of songs that she had never heard yet she fell in love with them almost immediately. We listened to it at dinner and it makes excellent, vibrant background music for dinner parties.
