5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasure To Hold In Your Hands!
I bought two of these Bibles for my children. I can't say enough nice things about this KJV Concord Reference Edition in black goatskin ISBN 0521512972. The cover has such a soft and quality feel to it. The inside is lined with leather as well. After looking at many, many Bibles, I decided on the very best. 2.0 out of 5 stars a decent Bible that narrowly misses being an outstanding Bible
Recently I had ordered a Bible as a gift which had a genuine leather binding and was very disappointed in the quality of leather compared to Bibles from ten or fifteen years ago. I started looking around for something with some quality and repeatedy read that Cambridge and Allan Bibles are the best made these days, with the Concord being mentioned for the Cambridge...

The bindings on both of the goatskin Bibles that I received are the very best in quality that I believe you can purchase. When you pick up these Bibles, you don't want to put them down. The leather is soft, supple, and thick. The text just jumps right off the pages. The print is easy to read and more bold than any other Bibles that I have looked at (apx 20) from other companies. You won't be disappointed when you buy the best there is. I know these Bibles will last for the rest of my Children's lives. I would give this Bible 10 stars if I could.

An amazing and delightful edition. Stunning leather, very readable- words of our Lord in red. A copy you will want to keep forever. This one makes you want to take it with you everywhere!
I have heard some criticism of Cambridge tampering with the spellings and capitalization within the text of the King James in the 21st Century printings. I have many of their most collectable and also this exact edition. THERE IS NO SUCH TAMPERING. This beautiful Bible is magnificently bound with impeccable attention to detail. Cambridge continues to reign Monarch of high quality King James publishers. If they had the rights to the "Scofield" study system there would be no contest at all from Oxford Press. It is a very valuable and useable Bible. Stunning craftsmanship. Cambridge has excellent customer service too. You'll pause with breathless delight when you first open the protective, bookshelf slipcase. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Let me just say I have a bit of a problem. I have bibles, lots of them. I might have found what I would call the holy grail of bibles. The leather on this bible is fantastic, much nicer than any of the calfskin bibles that I have. Oh, the soft subtle smell of a leather bible. It looks like someone knew what they were doing when they made this bible. The paper is beautiful and I love the refrence system of this bible. No little numbers in the text to annoy or distract you. The refrence system in this bible should be used in all bibles. The size is perfect for me not to small as to get lost and big enough to fit comfortable in the hand. The font and type is clear and dark. So far the only thing I have found wrong is in the back in the bible dictionary, some of the words seem to be a little washed out or the type is not as dark as the rest of the bible. This is the first bible that I have actually felt like I got what I paid for. I would recommend this bible to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical Useful Durable Bible, March 11, 2006

I have purchased many Bibles over the years. I'm finding this particular Bible to be the most useful Bible I have ever owned. The softness of the cover and the quality build is perfect. Also I find that as my eyes age, I'm really enjoying the darker print in this Bible. I carry it all of the time. This is the most expensive Bible I have ever purchased, but will probably out last the rest. The goatskin leather has a very pleasant feel and an ease of use than any other Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars nothing better than Cambridge quality.........., January 11, 2004

In every way, this Bible is just gorgeous. Cambridge has done it again: Goatskin leather, leather lined, two ribbon markers, dictionary, condordance, and presentation pages, India paper, edge-gilt paper. I have the Cambridge Interlinear Bible in the same goatskin binding, another Cambridge masterpiece in binding.
And naturally in the KJV as I believe all other translations are merely commentaries on the KJV!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Bible, July 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Having been through a long and elusive search for the "perfect" Bible, receiving this one became an "Eureka" experience! This comfortably-sized Bible is a joy to hold - with its rich, leather cover, and a pleasure to read - with its dark and consistent print. Additional features include a decent dictionary behind a useful concordance and a glossary of terms to assist in translating the 17th century English into modern equivalents. The maps are plentiful, preceded by a map index. The center-column cross references and other aids are designed for easy and convenient use and are formatted in a way that avoids cluttering the text with super-scripted letters or numbers. Therefore, this Bible proves to be very suitable for reading and studying. Its remarkable features have been perfected by Cambridge through a test of time.

My search for a better Bible has ended. I highly recommend it. It's worth the expense.

5.0 out of 5 stars KJV Concord Reference Bible, August 19, 2008
After five months I appreciated this Bible more than I did at first:
+ The finest burgandy color I have ever seen
+ Width, height, and thickness idea for "carry to church"
+ Bold printing much better than large font size
+ Paper texture very smooth
+ Pages turn easily
+ Thumb index tabs attractive and efficient
+ Dictionary is extensive for a reference Bible
+ Beautifully grained moroccan leather thicker than most
- Red letter words only used to the end of Jesus' life on earth; so there are no red words in Revelation
As usual, getting this Bible thru Amazon was a good experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very, Very Nice Quality Bible, April 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the 1790 KJV! The quality is far superior than any other Bibles I have owned. The only reason I am giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is because it was advertised to have India paper, but the paper is a little bit thinner. (It may still be India paper.) The Pitt-Minion Bible still uses the thicker, more traditional India paper.

What's really nice is the type. It is very easy to read, a semi-bold typeface. The center-column references are a big plus and there is a small dictionary for archaic words.

This Bible is a must-have. It is a great size to take anywhere. Once you own a Cambridge Bible you will never want to buy anything else.

5.0 out of 5 stars BaS, December 16, 2008
This review is from: KJV Concord Reference Black Goatskin KJ566X (Leather Bound)
This Bible feels like a genuine leather glove and feels good to the hands and allows for bending & flexibility. The writing is large enough to read, the print quality is nice, and the pages lay flat. If you want a classic soft feel, and all around high quality leather Bible, this is your Bible. You want to keep this one as your own, or give to someone who appreciates goatskin quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars has a glossary of archaic words, May 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Has 2 black ribbons.
Has presentation pages.
Printed in Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Bound in the United Kingdom.
The KJV text is from revision work done in the 1950s.
A Short Glossary of Biblical Usage (7 pages) is based upon the work of W. W. Skeat in The Cambridge Companion to the Bible. It gives definitions of archaic words.
Has a 128 page dictionary.
Colored maps at the back are from the moody bible institute of chicago (1986).
Center column notes have verse numbers in bold so there are no symbols in the text. The center column notes feature cross references and alternate translations expanded from the 1611 editions.
The margins near the spine are too small.
A new bible will be stiff and will take a while to open flat.
