5.0 out of 5 stars Fear not to order this Masterpiece!
I have heard some criticism of Cambridge tampering with the spellings and capitalization within the text of the King James in the 21st Century printings. I have many of their most collectable and also this exact edition. THERE IS NO SUCH TAMPERING. This beautiful wide-margin Bible is magnificently bound with impeccable attention to detail. 1.0 out of 5 stars A lovely Bible IF the binding wasn't awful and pages didn't fall out - TWICE
Cambridge, at one time, offered the top of the line Bible. They have changed who does their binding and as such, this Bible with so many features and beautiful goatskin isn't worth the paper it was printed on. I bought two and both didn't lay flat, but stuck up in the air, which is a symptom of the bigger problem: when you gently pull on a page, it pops out of the...

Cambridge continues to be the Monarch of high quality King James publishers. If they had the rights to the "Scofield" study system there would be no contest at all from Oxford Press. It is a very valuable and useable Bible. Stunning craftsmanship. Cambridge has excellent customer service too. You'll pause with breathless delight when you first open the functional protective case and your eyes inspect eagerly, this handsome goatskin volume. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully made Bible., January 6, 2004
Who knew goatskin leather was so soft. Very nice Bible that I hope to enjoy for many years to come. Generous margins and plenty of lined note paper in back. Maps are the best I have seen as well. No error-filled comments/opinions to interrupt the study of God's Word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Readablility, August 5, 2005

Even though I would configure this bible somewhat differently, I still cannot give this less than 5 stars.

I own many bibles and until now have underestimated the value of having a bible with such clean text that reads so well. The more readable the text is, the less effort and concentration is needed for comprehension. The self-pronunciation feature is very useful.

Everything said about the craftsmanship by the others is true, even the ruled pages in the back are gilded. It is a large bible, but the pages flip easily and do not stick together, even right out of the box. The goatskin is flexible and the bible lays flat.

I would trade some of the ruled pages for a subject index and proper names in the concordance. Also, the references are just OK and I'd prefer the set of cross-references from other bibles that I own.

If you are trying to decide between this on and the Cambridge Cameo, the Cameo does not have room in the inner margin, nor does it have the bold reference system (text is not as clean). However, the Concord is a large bible, so there are trade-offs.

In my opinion, the Cambridge Concord Wide Margin in Goatskin KWM266 is the nicest KJV money can buy, short of some of the custom binders (e.g. Allan and so on).

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice but not perfect, December 13, 2006
I have been looking for a quality, wide margin, black letter King James Version bible for quite awhile. I currently own a Cambridge Presentation KJV bible, goatskin leather, which is of excellent quality, but the India paper and small margins are not conducive to note taking. I was afraid the text of the concord might be too small at 8/9 point. I recently purchased a bonded leather version of the Concord (not wide margin) for my son, and the print was quite readable, so I decided to order the Concord Wide Margin in goatskin leather. I was surprised to find that the print in the wide margin Concord is maybe 5% to 10% smaller than that of the non wide margin Concord. The print quality is very good, but not excellent. I have a large print Scofield (Oxford) bible that was much less expensive, but has better print quality. The quality of the leather was excellent, however, there was a minor problem in that the front flap did not extend very far past the pages. The crimped edge of the goatskin leather persistently caught on the thick leader page, bending it back and creasing it. This may be a minor point, but a bible of this price should have no such problem. The Presentation bible has ample overlap such that this problem does not exist. Overall, this is a very good quality bible, but the smaller print and the annoyance with the cover make it not quite "perfect".

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best, November 1, 2006

I just received my Cambridge black goatskin concord wide margin Bible and all I have to say is wow! The quality here totally surpasses anything available these days; with exceptions such as Allan's. Upon opening the box you're hit with the unique smell that is goatskin. The feel of it is also unique. It possesses the suppleness of calfskin and yet feels more durable. The real beauty of the Bible is found when it is parted and held in one's hands. Unlike most Bibles you'll find at Christian bookstores which are a bit stiff and difficult to thumb through, this one falls, better yet pours into place and over your hand. The limp, smooth, and supple nature of the leather is truly remarkable. The paper and print quality are equally noteworthy. The paper doesn't feel like the usual tissue paper found in most bibles, nor is it very thick. It is opaque and just plain gorgeous. The print is bold, clear and more easily read than other Bibles in this font. In short, this Bible is amazing. If you are looking for the best quality Bible available, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Bible, February 27, 2007

This is truly a beautiful bible. I did not buy it for the construction but for the AV 1611 and translators preface to the AV 1611. To my delight the bible is a joy to read, hold and smell the goatskin. I was worried about the size of font before receiving the bible (40ish year old eyes). But the font, quality and paper are easily readable. The bible came without defects. I'm tickled with this bible and have owned many different types of bibles. I must concur that this is the best quality bible I have ever owned. More importantly this is the preserved Word of God from this generation forever.
Psalms 12:6-7
I highly recommend this holy bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uncomparable!!!!, December 29, 2006
What can I say about this Bible that hasn't already been said?? I don't know the technical jargon that others have used in describing this Bible, but I do have an opinion. I also have many Bibles by various publishers & there is not a one that even comes close to the quality of this Cambridge Goatskin Bible! I've only had it for about 9 mos., but I believe that it will last more than a lifetime with reasonable care. As everybody else has said, the goatskin cover is beautiful & durable, (I do know alittle about leather as far as gloves go, & there is know comparison in wear between goatskin & other leathers. The goatskin out wears everything I've ever tried, elk, pigskin, cowhide, etc.) The sewing is great. I love the heavy paper. There is ample room for notes around the text & in the extra pages in the back. I like the traditional King James intro. The Bible is alittle pricey, but if you want the best & want it to last a lifetime & beyond, this is your Bible!

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional and Beautiful, August 13, 2005
This bible is very attractive and recieves compliments regularly. A unique feture that I enjoyed was the several pages of lined paper bound into the back of the bible. The lined pages as well as the numerous other pages set aside for marking allow the owner to note endless texts and ideas. The wide margin gives ample space for notes next to texts. The bible is quite large as compared to other bibles and would make a excellet study bible for pastors or those interested in a personal study bible. A beautiful bible I am VERY happy with. Highly Recomended.
