The wonders of industrial architecture,
By ViccyG (Melbourne, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Concrete Atlantis: U.S. Industrial Building and European Modern Architecture (Paperback)
Industrial architecture is not recognised as worthy of study with the consequence many fine buildings classified as industrial just disappear. This is despite their architectural worthiness, what they have contributed to the social fabric of a place and what they can contribute in conservation and reuse. Banham's book investigates industrial architecture in a very important period, economically, socially and primarily architecturally. Modernism, and where the ideas originated is a topic worthy of investigation and this book tackles the task. Thank you, dear Reyner Banham.
