Staying's Worse Than Leaving - Sunny Sweeney

Biography

I’m Sunny Sweeney. I’m from East Texas, and you’ll know that the minute you talk to me. When I get around my friends from home or family, my accent gets thicker and you will most likely need a translator. I sing country music in a country band, and I play acoustic guitar. I’m a pretty low key person when I’m off the road, and my idea of fun is to sit on the couch ... Read more in Amazon's Sunny Sweeney Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Sunny Sweeney is the Real Deal August 24, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
Honestly, I'm not even a big country music fan. I'm totally not in the demographic that country music major record labels are looking for, but I'm looking for good music, so what do I care? This is a really good album because this is a talented artist who has a lot of sincere passion, and she is a real person with lyrics that cut through to real circumstance and her band is killer. I should really say that the production and rhythm section is far past the usual and you can almost feel that they are inspired. Ok, I'm a musician so I hear these things, or feel them. But regardless, if you're looking for a country album from a young woman with talent and attitude and a fearless and sincere outlook on life, this will fit the bill for you. I think at the price point, you can't really go wrong, so download it and play it in your car or pickup truck or on your iPod and it's all good. The lyrics are not cheesy, and that's a huge plus, so go on and make your purchase now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunny Shines Again!!! August 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Sunny Sweeney is like the best kept secret in country music...and that's a shame. This girl should be blasting from car radios everywhere, she's that good. Her 1st album, Heartbreaker's Hall Of Fame was my favorite country album of 2007 and still gets lots of player time. It's been four long years until her follow up arrived and that's too long. There was an EP released in between (all those tunes appear here) but that only served as a tease in my opinion...now we have Concrete and it's a winner!! Sunny's voice seems stronger on this one and once again her choice of material is first rate. I can't stop listening to Amy (also on the EP) and the entire album just flows from one great tune to another. This young woman is destined for something bigger...get in on the ground floor and hang on for the ride. If I have one complaint it would be about the overall length of this album: it clocks in around 32 min...that's very brief for any album and for one that took four years to produce, almost inexcusable. I realize that quality is better than quantity and this is certainly qualitetical: but please Sunny...MORE PLEASE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars she's got the goods September 3, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
We waited a long time for this one to come out. During that time we kept playing the "Heartbreakers" disc and went to see her twice in the last year. Concrete is not the same as her first album but is still top notch stuff. Sunny apparently went through some changes and was able to express it through her music. Going to see her again in Nov. for a full out honky tonk set so it will be different than the state fair and county fair situations. Glad to have Sunny Sweeney music because we just can't stand the carrie, tim, taylor, kenny, jason, sugarflatts radio channels that are supposed to be COUNTRY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunny Sweeney-Concrete
A lot of "hurt" in this CD, but the delivery by Sunny is great. Her voice, and the feeling you can pick up on are what makes her a good artist.
