The majestic and soulful "El Conde"., August 11, 2007

The late great sonero Pete "Conde" Rodriguez was Johnny Pacheco's lead singer for almost a decade before recording this Pacheco-produced solo debut...and what a strong album it was!!! Pete's powerful and ever-soulful vocals and inspired soneos (improvisations) are truly superb on the classics "Los Compadres", "Blanca Paloma", "Un Toque Pa' Yambao" and a classy remake of Beny More's "El Conde Negro". Buy (and enjoy!) this CD and you'll understand why Pete was regarded as Johnny Pacheco's all-time greatest singer.

An all-time Salsa classic., August 6, 2003
Although billed as the late Pete "Conde" Rodriguez' solo debut album it was (in fact) produced by Johnny Pacheco and featured Pacheco's conjunto backing "El Conde" up. This one's best tracks are "Un Toque Pa Yambao", "El Conde Negro", the self-explanatory "Los Compadres" and the bole4ros "Perdon Y Olvido" and "Lo Quiso Dios". The start of a great sonero's solo career.
