4.0 out of 5 stars overall a great cd
This is one of Otto's better cds, I couldn't stand "Samba Pra Burro" to be honest..."Dias de Janeiro", "Anjos Do Asfalto", & "Basquiat" are some of my favorites. The music coming from the state of Pernambuco in Brasil, where he's from, is probably the most progressive musically speaking.

If you understand Portugues, you would probably appreciate and understand the words even more; quite simple, and poetic...a very cheap and awesome find. His shows in Brasil usually sell out and are expensive!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than American Music, February 24, 2004
This review is from: Condom Black (Audio CD)
Condom Black, while not as bracingly original as its predecessor is still more radical than all of American Pop music. The effortless shift of styles and sounds are more straightford that his debut, but they're also free from the excesses that made "Samba Pra Burro" sound at times like a mere cross-genre exercise. One could pick out several things wrong with it, especially lines like "save the children now", but police don't kill children on our streets so who are we to gripe. Above all, it's a second album, more mature but perhaps less exciting than it's predecessor. Get Samba Pra Burro first, of course, but better condom black than matchbox twenty. Then again, If you like matchbox twenty you're reading the wrong review
