Product Description

CONDOR TOOL & KNIFE traces its proud history back to 1787, the year GERB WEYESBERG COMPANY was founded in Solingen, Germany. The quality of the swords, military knives, agricultural tools and household cutlery they manufactured made Solingen the cutlery capital of the world. Over the generations, the world’s largest manufacturer of swords and knives found it necessary to expand operations to other countries to better serve its customers. In 1964, the company formed IMACASA with a new plant in Santa Ana, El Salvador and filled it with state of the art German equipment. Some of the original local employees who were sent to Solingen for extensive training forty years ago are still working in the factory today, turning out the finest quality machetes, shovels and other hand tools.

I bought this machete in the spring after the handle in my cold steel latin machete broke. The golok feels very good in my hand and the bulb on the handle is very functional and keeps the large knife from slipping from my grasp. The steel is very high quality and is very thick compared to the cold steel latin machete. It chops like a boss; the thickest log I chopped with it was an 11 inch pine and the blade was still able to shave the surface of my finger nail.... (stayed very sharp). Overall I put it through a lot of use and abuse and it is holding up. I take it with me on every mountain and hike and I got used to the weight of it. May I add that you do have to take care of the blade because it rusts if it gets wet. It happened to me after a trip to camp muir(10,200 ft.) at Mt. Rainier and the knife got soaked from me glissading down the snow field, a day after which the edge of the blade got a thin layer of rust. But it wasn't anything 5 minutes of polishing couldn't fix. Overall buy this machete if you want it. You will realize how much more you should have wanted it after you use it.

The Condor Golok Machete is one word... awesome. The "Knife Machete" is full tang and 1/4" at the handle and slighty tapers as you get down to the tip. The hardwood handle is great, it fits my hands perfectly and the bulbous end is nice when doing heavy slashing swings. I took this thing out to test and it clears brush like no other, not as much reach as other machetes, but it slices through everything like butter. It is sharp. It comes sharp unlike all other machetes I have bought. The edge is polished and looks great and it is easy to get a razor sharp edge on it. I have a Cold Steel kukri machete and it doesn't even compare to the chopping ability of the Golok. After I do the big chopping with my tomahawks I switch over to the Golok to quicky take care of the rest. The leather sheath is high quality, thick and durable with a nice swiveling belt loop and also has a cool Condor logo stamped in it. This is a high quality product at a low price and I highly recommend. I'm getting another. :)

This was my 1st machete and I did a lot of research, speaking to Latin friends and reading.

Don't even think about purchasing a machete locally at a big box home improvement or sporting goods store.
Those machetes are flimsy, cheap junk and/or unsafe. The tang of their blades extend very little into the handle.

It arrived packed perfectly.
The blade was wrapped very tightly in plastic and a desiccant was inside to prevent rust.
The tang of it's blade extends deeply into the handle.

I also think this machete is also promoted at the mostly gun oriented annual SHOT show in Las Vegas.
Good to know you won't be disturbed while you are doing your yard work!

I got a file and sharpened it up a bit.
A little work on my technique and excess banana plants and some pretty nasty sticker bushes went flying!

Originally being from the northeastern US, I had no idea what an excellent yard tool a machete makes until I moved to South Florida. When you don't want to hassle with a chainsaw, this could be just the right tool for the job!

This is a great buy and a useful, well-made tool. The handle is not super smooth, but I like the rough finish to get a better grip. The sheath is very nice as well. The carbon steel is easy to sharpen and will hold an edge, unlike stainless.

Great Machete the best I have ever owned! Very solid piece of equipment and very well built. A must have in any survival kit or on any camping trip. Makes very short work of clearing brush. Definately recommend!

Went up to Pikes National Forest and this machete worked great. The handle feels solid and grips well. The blade is thick and sturdy. The leather case is top notch. This replaced the Bear Grylls machete (which sucks) and I can see keeping this one for a long time. Buy it!

Did my research before buying this item and many great reviews led me to purchasing the golok. I must say that I was very impressed with it as soon as it came out the box. Very beautiful machete. This is not some cheap replica it is the real deal. Condor gives you alot for the money. The sheath is very thick leather and high quality as well. All I'm gonna say is "BUY IT" you will not regret it I promise. Love it.
