CONDOR TOOL & KNIFE traces its proud history back to 1787, the year GERB WEYESBERG COMPANY was founded in Solingen, Germany. The quality of the swords, military knives, agricultural tools and household cutlery they manufactured made Solingen the cutlery capital of the world. Over the generations, the world’s largest manufacturer of swords and knives found it necessary to expand operations to other countries to better serve its customers. In 1964, the company formed IMACASA with a new plant in Santa Ana, El Salvador and filled it with state of the art German equipment. Some of the original local employees who were sent to Solingen for extensive training forty years ago are still working in the factory today, turning out the finest quality machetes, shovels and other hand tools.

The order came faster than I expected and the machete exceeded all my expectations. When I first opened the box the machete was much smaller than I expected, but looks certainly can be deceiving. This machete packs a powerful punch for the size. I went outside to test this baby on a large palo verde outside, and with every effortless swing this Golok out chopped any hatchet. The quality of this machete is quite impressive. Full tang, high quality carbon steel, razor sharp blade, comfortable curved handle, intimidating design, and nice walnut handle are just a few aspects that make this machete. I would reccomend this machete to anyone no matter how abusive your tasks are. I have quite a collection of machetes and this one by far is my favorite. For the price, quality, and use of this tool, no other machete compares, hands down.

I've had this golok for about 2 months now. I've taken it on 3 camping trips and 2 (15 mile) hikes. I originally bought this to see if it would make a viable replacement for my Wetterlings large hunting ax. The answer is yes. It chops and handles with power and precision. It doesn't have quite as much power as the ax, but it is close. Plus, it is lighter, easier to handle, easier to pack, and has more overall uses.
I love my Wetterlings, and I will continue to carry it for prolonged camping trips. However, for backpacking, I will take the golok from now on.

I have been wanting to get one of these for a while now, and I'm glad I did. Would make an excellent tool for use in the rainforest of Peru, or the Rocky Mountains of the US. Excellent chopper, will handle hardwoods, softer woods, or even large butchering chores, like quartering a game animal, with ease.
