5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent effort by a band that needs more exposure.
Each time you listen to this CD it gets solider. So has the band since "Pardon My French." "Conduct" contains terrific songs in a genuinely eclectic mix of styles. 3.0 out of 5 stars As good as this CD was ...
Fuck's Pardon My French, which is one of my favorite CDs of all-time, was a far better effort than this one, which feels uneven thanks to the many varied turns the band takes from downright mellow to straight up punk. Still good, though.

Each time you listen to this CD it gets solider. So has the band since "Pardon My French." "Conduct" contains terrific songs in a genuinely eclectic mix of styles. Some songs seem static at first but they all possess an insistent strength that often builds to powerful climaxes. The songs range from easy rockabilly ("Monkey Doll") to complex time-motion-texture experiments ("Twist Off", "Gimme Some") to country ballads ("Never Comin' Back") to stuff the Beatles would have been proud of ("Laundry Shop"). There are intelligent lyrics with an understated irony married to crafted melodies ("Drinking Artist", "Stumble Inn," "Blind Beauty"). Some melodies won't leave your head ("Italy", "Stray"). There are a lot of songs here, and what is amazing is how good most of them are. This band needs to be heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars This band is GREAT!, October 8, 1998

I have seen this band perform once and they were great! When we listen to their c.d.'s, we always end up turning some of our friends on to them. Their songs may not be very long and their name may be offensive to some, but this band is a great band to come out of San Francisco. I would recommend any of their c.d's to any of my friends.

buy a cd but only to refresh your memory re the live experience. this is a truly great small-venue band, in the top 10 bands I've seen in my 30 year career in the rockroll biz.
