September 6, 2010
In Conduct Unbecoming, Lt. Col. Robert Patterson—New York Times bestselling author and former Senior Military Aide to President Clinton—exposes how President Barack Obama’s national security policies are weakening our military and endangering America’s safety. From underfunding and misusing the military to his “Apology Tour” across Europe and the Middle East, President Obama has made America more vulnerable with both our allies and our enemies. In Conduct Unbecoming, you’ll discover:

How Obama is not listening to his generals’ recommendations on Afghanistan
How Obama’s first two acts as Commander-In-Chief weakened our national security and military
How Obama’s feckless diplomatic efforts with other countries are severely threatening our national security

Shocking and controversial, Conduct Unbecoming reveals how Obama's disregard for the military and a strong foreign policy is exposing us to unprecedented risks in the 21st century.

From the Inside Flap

America ’s biggest national security threat just might be the president of the
United States

Sound shocking— it’s meant to be; but unfortunately, it’s not the plot of a White House thriller: it’s real life. Bestselling military analyst Buzz Patterson—who once served in the White House as the president’s senior military aide responsible for the “nuclear football”—has seen presidential irresponsibility before. But what he reveals about President Barack Obama is even more disturbing than what he witnessed in the White House of Bill Clinton.

From Obama’s bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia, the Communist president of China, and the emperor of Japan, to his “America apology tour,” his refusal to identify radical Islam as the enemy in the war on terror, his unilateral withdrawal of a planned missile defense shield from Eastern Europe, and his administration’s public downgrading of our “special relationship” with Great Britain, Barack Obama’s foreign policy seems to be never to stand up for America, but always to retreat from leadership, appease our enemies, and insult our allies—and even our own military.

Barack Obama is only the second president since the Second World War to have no military experience; as commander in chief in a time of war, that lack of experience could be deadly. In Conduct Unbecoming, you’ll learn:

Why Obama could willfully lose the war on terror
Why Obama will never be a “centrist” Democrat
How the Obama administration’s “rules of engagement” in Afghanistan are costing American lives
How the Obama administration’s aggressive push to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” could lead to countless lawsuits and the loss of up to a quarter of our armed forces
BONUS: The Obama administration’s official national security strategy—identifying “climate change” and not radical Islam as a threat to national security
PLUS: “Are You Safer?” a complete rundown of the foreign policy failures of the Obama administration

Incisive and comprehensive, Conduct Unbecoming is the most important book yet written on how Barack Obama is endangering our national security.

From the Back Cover

Praise for Conduct Unbecoming

“Buzz Patterson thought he’d seen it all as the military aide to President Bill Clinton. Turns out, he was wrong, Barack Obama is worse, much worse, and his failures as America’s commander in chief are profoundly affecting the U.S. military and our ability to win the great ideological battle with Islamic extremism. Read this book. It will educate you and shock you at the same time. Brilliant read.”
—General Thomas G. McInerney, FOX News military analyst and bestselling co-author of Endgame: The Blueprint for Victory in the War on Terror

Praise for Lt. Col. Patterson’s New York Times bestseller Reckless Disregard

“Humorist P. J. O’Rourke has said that putting Democrats in charge of foreign policy is like giving the car keys and a bottle of whiskey to a teenager. Buzz Patterson explains here why this is no joke.”
—Steven F. Hayward, author of The Age of Reagan and The Real Jimmy Carter

“Buzz Patterson’s words are harsh, but his conclusion is inescapable. Today’s Democrats cannot be trusted with America’s defense.”
—Jed Babbin, former deputy undersecretary of Defense and author of Inside the Asylum and co-author of Showdown

Praise for Lt. Col. Patterson’s New York Times bestseller Dereliction of Duty

“Patterson portrays a president too self-absorbed to take the time to handle many military decisions, a first family who viewed military aides as waiters, and a national security operation so weak that it forced many officers to quit.”
—Paul Bedard, White House Weekly

5.0 out of 5 stars Conduct Unbecoming, September 6, 2010
This review is from: Conduct Unbecoming: How Barack Obama is Destroying The Military and Endangering Our Security (Hardcover)
Buzz Patterson's 'Conduct Unbecoming' is a clear and concise critique' of our 44th President's efforts to lead us away from what works, what has kept us safe and what makes us a superpower. From a vantage point that few have, Patterson cites point after point where Barack Obama is methodically disassembling our military's anti-terror machine and is returning it to 'the 1990s mindset and failed anti-terrorism policies of the Clinton administration'. To give us a complete picture, the book details Obama's principal influences and helps us to understand why, not surprisingly, he's doing as he is.

In 'Dereliction of Duty' we could only (after the fact) shake our heads in disbelief at the misconduct of the Commander in Chief. But in 'Conduct Unbecoming', Patterson supplies us with real-time information that we can use to effectively win over the non-believer. The book has terrific timelines of both the terror war and 44's missteps.

If you're a concerned American that wants our country back on the right path and you'd like to be armed with the facts - this book is a must read. Thanks Buzz!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unapologetic Truth, September 6, 2010
This review is from: Conduct Unbecoming: How Barack Obama is Destroying The Military and Endangering Our Security (Hardcover)
Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) Robert "Buzz" Patterson has long been a dedicated and constant voice for the military in his advocation for unyielding investment in our national security. Driven by his clear, personal understanding that to diminish the stature and operating capabilities of our fighting forces is to render the United States of America under-prepared and impotent on the world stage, he revealed the progressive undermining of that very security structure under the liberal democratic leadership of William Jefferson Clinton (and Presidential wannabe, John Kerry) in previous publications, Dereliction of Duty and Reckless Disregard. In those New York Times bestsellers, he succinctly presented the truth with candor, documented fact, and courage that so often goes unrewarded. Buzz capably earned his following!

I anticipated that Conduct Unbecoming would not disappoint --- but it in actuality it goes well beyond! The book is both stunning and shocking in its factual revelations regarding our current President, the intricate network of subversive figures who have surrounded and influenced him from his youth, and those who have supported and presented him to the American people despite his lack of experience, readiness or preparedness. I consider myself an informed, alert reader, yet gained a phenomenal clarity about the covert, international subterfuge that melded and coaxed us as a people to this brink. Buzz connects the dots, and the picture is terrifying.

Barack Obama is, without a doubt, both little understood and under-analyzed by the American populace and our mainstream media. (Not surprisingly, our international allies as well as adversaries seem to see him quite clearly!) The author had me at Chapter 1: "Mr. Alinsky Goes to Washington," which alone is worth the price of admission to this book! Buzz capably chronicles history and sets the stage for what is unfolding before us: it is both profound and frightening. I pored over this chapter for hours to find the HOPE, and it is this: naming the enemy operating behind the scenes to fundamentally transform our liberty and our lives leads us to establish the strategy needed to combat it.

Events leading to today are expertly chronicled and concisely presented; the Appendices chart our present course through a recitation of the debilitating series of events that bring us to today, and then offer strategies that allow us not only to survive, but to thrive! Ever hopeful, I am confident that American citizens can look past their conflicted feelings and politically sanctioned views of our first non-white President and look more deeply instead into his ideology, motivations, social connections, and personal character flaws.

Everyone should read this book! Liberals committed to Marxist/Socialist revolution will revel in the magnitude of subversive activities already enacted, goals seemingly accomplished by whatever means, the arrogant self-righteous demeanor that mirrors their own, and the insidious hidden international network supporting their causes.

But for Obama enthusiasts who cling out of his more superficial appeals (race, glamour, fawning media and Hollywood endorsements) you will be grateful for eye-opening insights into how you inadvertently surrendered your freedoms for control, and a desperately less prosperous or appealing future for you, your children, and generations to come.

It's not too late to correct the course of America. Let a well-proven military insider lead the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boy, I wish we had had this information in the public mind BEFORE the 2008 election., September 29, 2010
This review is from: Conduct Unbecoming: How Barack Obama is Destroying The Military and Endangering Our Security (Hardcover)
Buzz Patterson, a former Air Force Lt. Col. who worked in the Bill Clinton White House carrying the codes for the nuclear football, has even less use for Barak Obama than he did for Bill Clinton. And that is a real counter-achievement. So, if you are an admirer and a supporter of Obama this book will almost certainly upset you.

However, if you want to understand how deep the roots of radicalism are in Obama and why he has governed as radically as he has, this book will be most interesting to you. If you also want to understand how the radical transformation Obama has been trying to push on America is dangerous for our security, I think you will find this book valuable.

The first two chapters explore the radical influences Obama that shaped Obama's youth and the radical associations he brought with him to the Whitehouse. This is very valuable information, especially the exposure of the vast influence of George Soros, and I wish it had been more explicitly stated during his run for office. But everyone was so busy painting him as a moderate they had this stuff under a coat of whitewash.

The next two chapters contrast Obama's image for intelligence, sophistication, and persuasiveness with the reality of his ineptitude, brittleness, crassness, divisiveness, and penchant for force against political opponents and appeasement for our nation's enemies. He would rather bow to foreign leaders than reach across the aisle and compromise his radical agenda.

Chapter 5 explains why using the military as a social experiment in trying to normalize societal attitudes towards homosexuality is dangerous to our security.

The Conclusion of the book discusses how Carter, Clinton, and now Obama have been terrible commanders-in-chief and how their policies encouraged the Jihadists rather than mollified them. The author then provides the "Long war" timeline from the rise of Khomeini in Iran to June 2010 so we can see how all these "isolated incidents" are really of a piece and part of our enemy's strategy.

This is not a long book. The actual text by the author is only 137 pages. Appendix One is a 100 page reproduction of a document by the Center for Security Policy that is quite valuable. It takes us through the day by day security policies and actions of the Obama Administration. When you read them in this fashion the radical agenda of the Obama team becomes clearer and why it is dangerous becomes apparent. You get to see behind the managed media and the obfuscations of this administration.

Appendix Two is another 100 page document: Obama's National Security Strategy. You have to read this to believe how lame it really is. Basically, his plan is to have America become just another nation among nations, accept a world order instead of enhancing our sovereignty, and put all the bad actors into an international time out until the want to work and play well with others. Does this sound good to you? Do you think our looking sternly at people like Hugo Chavez, the Iranian Mullahs, North Korea, or even China carries the least weight? The international state of nature is not a fraternal order where there are accepted norms and shared values no matter what was scribbled on any number of pieces of paper.
