5.0 out of 5 stars Research and Methodology with a Little Kick
Brett Pelham does a phenomenal job of bringing excitement and life to a subject matter many students and psychologists deem boring-research and research methodology. 3.0 out of 5 stars Conducting Research in Psychology
So far a great book; the examples the authors use are up-to-date and witty. Makes for an easier read. I just wish there were more pictures =P

Brett Pelham does a phenomenal job of bringing excitement and life to a subject matter many students and psychologists deem boring-research and research methodology. In his easy-to-read book, Brett brings comedy to confounding variables, t-scores, and placebo effects. Throughout the book, he backs up his explanation of research terms by using clear, but witty illustrations. Brett was my professor at UCLA and he used this book for his Psychology Research and Methodology course. A class I had been dreading was made alive, interesting, and easy to understand, not only through his lectures, but through this book! If you are a psychology teacher, a student struggling to fully grasp reasearch methods, or just a person who enjoys reading well written, easy to read books, with a comedic kick, then this is a great book for you! It will not only change the way you view methodology/research, but heighten your understanding of the topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars First edition, October 20, 2009

This was a required book for a research class taught by a social psychology professor that went to school with the author, I think. I have the first edition that probably cost me $20 to $30 brand new. I just pulled it off my bookshelf again after 10 years since it's original publication and it is timeless. I've taken several graduate level research classes and even have a research publication of my own and this remains my "go to" book. I had forgotten how funny this book is and the examples and exercises are wonderful for first time research students. Great book and a must have for research beginners and pros.

I don't like statistics, but who does?
This book was required for an upper-division research/methodology class.
To my surprise this book turned out to be a reasonable pleasant read, using regular language rather than confusing you with complicated jargon.
It focuses more on the theoretical aspects rather than just the number crunching.
It helped me understand the lectures a lot better.
Most of you who are reading this review will have to buy this book for a class, rather than by choice, and rest assure, you don't have to be intimidated. And I really, really, really don't like statistics.

Great book. Fresh take. Writers are witty and informative, and do a great job of elaborating through examples and anecdotes.

I bought this book for a class. It came in great condition, though I was surprised at the price for such a skinny book. Still, it was about the cheapest that I could find...
