We had been researching wooden train sets, ie., Thomas, Brio, Imaginarium and almost bought the Imaginarium set when we spotted this one on Amazon. We are so glad we went ahead and bought it. The price is a steal for the quality of this product. Our son is two and will be getting this for Christmas so he hasn't played with it yet but we had fun putting it together! Can't wait to see his face when he opens it on Christmas morning.
We also plan to intergrate some of the Thomas trains and accessories as he is a big Thomas fan. We think he'll really like the Conductor Carl engine just as much.

We received our Conductor Carl Train Table and Set today. I was SHOCKED! First of all, the package was extremely damaged, but there was only a tiny bit of damage to the table top that isn't even noticeable once assembled. And we were completely amazed at the quality. My son has played on plenty of train tables, most far more expensive than this, yet I would definitely consider this to be one of the higher quality pieces that I have seen. The trains and vehicles that are included are wooden and decently painted, with medium strength magnets. My only complaint here is that our fire truck is for some inexplicable reason missing its windshield, even though all of the other vehicles have them. I was also super surprised that there were little wooden buildings included. My son and husband had so much fun playing with this that they came to dinner an hour late, I didn't have the heart to break up the fun.

Pros: This is inexpensive, not cheap
The table is a good size, big enough for play, but not oversized, and just the right height for my 16-month-old to grow
into
The table top seems to be hard-finished cardboard, so it looks like it will be water resistant (not waterproof) (note, now that we have spilled on it, it is in fact water resistant)
The table top is double-sided, one is plain green, the other has roads, buildings, water etc.
Super easy 15 minute assembly even with a 16-month-old assistant

Cons: The little wooden buildings are made out of multiple pieces and I can pretty much guarantee they will get lost within a month
The included trains don't fit under the bridges! That is one weird design flaw. Luckily we have some smaller trains, but it is a source of frustration of the kid.
There is no support beam for the center of the table. This is an obvious place to add one. We are having a carpenter friend come over and fit the table for us. Anyone with less handy help can have a piece of plywood cut to the size of the table and lay it underneath for extra support or just add a support beam.
There aren't any drawers underneath, but we'll use bins.

We have 3 year old twins (boy and girl) who love this set. It was a little cheaper than others and we read the table itself was of better quality than some others.

The kids still use the table almost every day after 3 months. They :

1. use and build the tracks and use the trains
2. take down tracks and just use cars and buildings and people on it to play
3.use it as a reading table and craft table

So the table is pretty much always in use. The tracks are easy enough for them to put together and create their own simple designs. It is a sturdy table as well.

It has had a minor spill that was fairly quickly wiped up, but it did not affect the board, no warping at all.

All in all, very happy with this table since it does keep the kids occupied with a variety of uses.

The only 2 cons are :

1. main train does not fit under the bridge as someone else mentioned. Silly design flaw. Kids were frustrated at first but have learned to live with it.
2. The design on the board (road, lakes, etc) does not coincide with main track layout. This is a minor flaw that adults may notice but kids (at least mine) do not even notice.

Otherwise we are happy with the purchase.

I have this set and some Thomas mini sets. The Carl stuff is compatible with the Thomas stuff, but there is a CLEAR quality difference! The Thomas stuff fits together so much better. The Carl stuff has huge tolerances in the pieces. The Thomas stuff rolls super smooth; the Carl stuff you REALLY need to focus on keeping it on the track.
I'm also bothered that the table is a universal table and the track layout does not coordinate with the printed table design. For example, it crosses the airport and doesn't work with the roads.

We got this set for my two-year-old last Christmas (9 months ago), and he has played with it EVERY DAY since! He absolutely loves this set!!! The table is very sturdy and we have had no issues with the construction or durability (even with constant use). We opted to glue down the pieces ourselves in order to keep it functional and not have pieces scattered everywhere, but that isn't necessary. Before I glued the pieces down my son had the track torn apart in seconds... I couldn't remember where all the pieces went so I emailed the company and they send a picture of the "how to lay the track." Whew... that's when I glued it down! The tracks fit with the larger wooded train cars, but the smaller metal Thomas cars are too small for this track. We couldn't be more pleased with this set! It was a great buy!!!!

We bought this set for our 2 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it. A few other reviews are correct in stating that the free Conductor Carl piece won't fit under the bridges, though it fits on the tracks fine. The table is pretty big and sturdy - which is great as sometimes she likes to go Godzilla on the set. Oh, and getting those tracks back together can be challenging, a little like putting puzzle pieces together. She seems to actually like that aspect of it though.

This train set is fantastic! My son loves it, and it is so much cheaper than the name brand sets. The Thomas wooden trains also fit on the track. My husband did nail down the track to make it easier. I think it is a great train set and a great price!

Seems like and excellent toy except conductor Carl is too small and a possible choking issue. Only piece I removed from the set.

I tried putting this together (before Christmas Eve thank goodness!!) and it broke as I was assembling it. It was so hard to put together I wanted to scream. The wood legs are crap and made of pressed particle board. Now my son's table is broken for the holidays, pieced together with duct tape, and I can't return it because I bought it in September. The 80 pieces it comes with are almost all individually wrapped in plastic, and it took forever to undo them all. Pay the extra and buy a decent table.
