Confabulario es, sin lugar a dudas, el libro mas representativo de Juan Jose Arreola (Zapotlan, 1918-Jalisco, 2001), autor al que se considera, junto a Rulfo, como uno de los puntales de la literatura en espanol. La aparicion, en 1952, de Confabulario, titulo que Arreola utilizo para sucesivas recopilaciones de relatos, significo la consagracion de su autor. La presente edicion recoge el estado final, definitivo, de una obra que es clara muestra del original estilo y talento del escritor.

If you are looking for a book with stories that are, at best described as intriguing, then you must own Confabulario Definitivo by Juan José Arreola. Arreola knows how to play with narrative techniques in a manner that will leave the reader in doubt. In a short story titled, "El guardagujas", Arreola opens up by introducing us to the two characters and leaves almost the whole story in form of dialogue between the two of them. The story develops through their dialogue and leaves the reader wanting more. The story itself is worthy of reading for its hidden meaning and humorous but enlightening ending. Read "El guardagujas" and the other imaginative short stories in Confabulario Definitivo. More than an author, Arreola is an artist.
