Finally a view from the sunny South!,
By Berek Qinah Smith (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Confederate Reader: How the South Saw the War (Civil War) (Paperback)
It is refreshing to see things from the Southern point of view. Because the Yankees won, they got to write all the text-books. Reading this book will probably give you a somewhat different view of the war. You will see how much the South suffered, despite its great effort and spirit. The book is full of interesting details that one will not find in the normal military history books. It has much about the life of Southerners (the civilians) during the war. Great for civil war buffs who want a more balanced view of the war.
