4.0 out of 5 stars the real goods, March 12, 2009
This review is from: Confessions of an Accidental Mouseketeer (Paperback)
this is the real stuff on being a child star, Disney, Dustin Hoffman, Bernadette Peters, Eddie Cantor (who?), tons of stars and pics and laughs - but there is serious stuff, like teen suicide and how kid stars have so many problems as adults and who is God anyway?

this guy has no spook writer and tells it like it is - he is very honest and flawed but he works at it and somehow has been married to the same woman for almost forty years?

laugh out loud, smile or sit and wonder for a while

I got an early copy and I'm going to take a few weeks off and read it again

not for children but if you're eighteen or a smart sixteen you may learn something that will help

besides, there's more here on the mickey mouse club than I ever knew

5.0 out of 5 stars So what's a Mouseketeer anyway?, February 24, 2012
By
Ron Ebner (Kingman, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Confessions of an Accidental Mouseketeer (Paperback)
Well, if you're not as old as I am and don't go back to the Golden Age of Television (TV to the modern generation) in the 1950s you might not remember Lonnie, Annette, Sharon, Bobby and the rest of the kids who were the Mouseketeers. Those 12- and 13-year-old kids of the Mickey Mouse Club were the best singers and dancers Walt Disney could fine and I, as a youngster, was in awe of their abilities. After the show ended in 1958 Lonnie went on to pursue a career as a dancer, choreographer, singer, actor, and author. He danced in shows on Broadway many times and in cities all over the country. In his book, Lonnie covers all phases of his career in an intelligent and well-writen style. The reader will enjoy learning what it was like to be in show business as a child, growing up as a performer and later, the driving force of his parents, his fellow performers, and background information as well--inner feelings, speculation over matters that only an intelligent man could consider and write about. Yes, you guessed it--I'm a friend of Lonnie's but that doesn't make me biased in favor of his book (well, maybe a little). Honestly, I enjoyed it when I first read it a year ago and still take up my copy periodically to reread and I'm sure I'll go on doing that for years to come.
