Book Description

January 18, 2010
I believe the best way to reach my fellow black Americans is to tell "My Story" which chronicles the virtues of Conservatism in common sense easy to understand non political terms. Conservatism is best for all Americans. Liberals always claim ownership of compassion. In reality, liberalism ultimately hurts people, while true compassion resides and thrives in Conservatism. In this book, I share life experiences which have convinced me that not only is a conservative approach to life best, it is most nurturing to the human spirit. You will laugh. You will cry. I pray all readers will be encouraged and my fellow black Americans will see the light and experience true freedom. America is the greatest land of opportunity on the planet regardless of race, color or creed. One only needs to "Go for it!"

5.0 out of 5 stars I Share His Dream! August 13, 2011
Mr. Marcus shares his story of why he is a proud black conservative. His life story travels from a ghetto in East Baltimore to his entry into Alcoholics Anonymous to a successful marriage and professional career. Lloyd addresses tough issues such as the perceptions versus the realities of racism; and how propaganda has resulted in victims who repeat the mantra of racism and class envy. He believes that seeing people as individuals instead of "racial categories" is the real cure for racial harmony as well as trusting in God rather than government. He concludes a tremendous life story by observing that "Dr King dreamed of a day when people would be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. I share his dream."

I have met Mr. Marcus several times and had the opportunity to chat with him: he is a man of character! This book describes his path to manhood. A must-read!

5.0 out of 5 stars conservatism without color November 14, 2011

Lloyd Marcus is a true conservative without race-based bias. If only we could rid this country of racial bias we would be a much happier country. Affirmative action is just another sort of racism; it has to go. Ethnic sorting also has to go. Let's all be Americans: just plain Americans, equal under God (whether or not we believe in God...) and under the U.S. Constitution. The great "melting pot" that once united us was just that. A melting pot where vanilla stays white, turmeric stays yellow, and chocolate stays brown is not a melting pot. We do not need division, but unity in love of country, and love of this nation of so many origins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book. February 17, 2013

Good book that makes the point of view of a conservative who happens to be black very clear. It's a shame that those who most need to read books like this probably never will. I passed my copy on to such a person and doubt that he ever read the book.
