Is it stealing if they want to be stolen?,
By
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
So, did Genesis Bell really steal the boyfriends away from her best friends? Or is there another side to the story? Genesis wants to get out the truth, so she starts a blog and confesses all. See, she was part of the clique at school: The Terribles. Her best friends were CJ (the ring leader) and Tasha. But they never really treated her like a true Terrible. She felt more like the one that cleaned up after their messes; the one that never got the guy - she only got to console them when CJ or Tasha walked all over them. All that starts to change when Nick, CJ's boyfriend and a total player, tries to make nice with Genesis. She's confused and flattered at first, but soon other emotions start to appear (like anger and betrayal) when she tries to come clean to CJ and gets laughed at (as if!) instead. She's had their backs for years and now the Terribles seem to be turning on her. And then there's Chi, Tasha's very lovable and very cute boyfriend who turns to Genesis for comfort whenever Tasha cheats on him (which is all the time!). He's definitely not like Nick. And maybe, just maybe, he's starting to see the light. Told through blog entries, the reader follows along on a wild ride. Given that the blog is supposedly started a few months after all the events, it does distance the reader some from the story. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if it hadn't been in blog format. The blog readers who leave comments at the end of each chapter are also a little distracting and don't add much to the story. But, other than those small things, this is a very fast and fun read. While I'm not a fan of boyfriend stealers, I'm definitely a fan of Genesis. Shoot, I haven't even told you yet about some of the more interesting parts of the story - her family. The Bell family is....well, you'll just have to see for yourself. They defy description and the scenes in which they appear are some of the funniest in the book. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

A great book with sassy characters,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
This is such a great book! It has some great charactersthat make you want to laugh out loud! Genesis Bell thinks she's the Jan Brady of Jamaica Plains, because her best friends CJ and Tasha are the most beautiful girls in the whole school- and also the snottiest. Read as Genesis struggles through her realationships with her best buds' boyfriends, and what going on at her house with her encentric mom and sister. She also is does a documentary on Fiesta Beach, the biggest party of the year! Just to tell you, CJ was way more b**chy than Tasha was. Tasha was just plain spoiled and stupid. This was a great book with amazing characters, and I read it twice. Read this book!

Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer.,
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
I LOVED this book! Ms Clairday has the wry wit to bring out the humorous side of teen angst that is compounded by a somewhat dysfunctional family. The primary character, Genesis Bell, suffers from the same problems that affect so many teens--questions about self-identity, fitting in with peer groups, the oddities of her own family, and struggling for direction in life. These are questions that all teens face to some degree, but Ms. Clairday, through Genesis, shows that these serious issues can be met with humor and self-acceptance--a very good coping mechanism for anyone in tough situations. I would recommend this book to any teen--and any adult, because most of us remember what a struggle our teen years were.

Poor Gen! ;-(,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
I loved how the author made the book kinda like a blog but told it like a story. I feel bad for Gen because it wasn't her fault that her friends didn't treat their boyfriends right! I also feel bad for Gen because she dosent really know her dad, and her mom and sister where always away! So they were not very close. But in the end everybody got what was comming to them!

really makes you think about relationships,

After Gen is accused of stealing her two best friend's, CJ and Tasha, boyfriends, she starts a blog to tell her side of the story (and beat CJ to doing the same thing). Through a series of online journal entries you find out about how the Terribles (as the three of them called themselves) came to be, Gen's eccentric family, her documentary on Fiesta Beach, the biggest party of the year, and what really went down with Gen and CJ and Tasha's boyfriends. Regular commenters on her blog add other people's input so as to make the novel not completely one-sided. Despite Gen's self-proclaimed "boyfriend stealer" status, you will find yourself empathizing much more with her than with the Terrible CJ and Tasha. Written in the perfect style for the internet generation, this novel is about fitting in, getting out of bad relationships (romantic or otherwise), and dealing with crazy family members. Any teen will easily be able to relate to Gen, and will get sucked into her confessions until they're complete.

Unique Book,
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
As you can see Confessions of A Boyfriend Stealer has it's own unique personality. Personally, I think it was great to make it a blog instead of a book and you can also see other people's point of view by the responses to the blog. It's a great book for teens

Good Book,
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
I thought that Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer was a great book. I can actually imagine being friends with Genesis because she seemed pretty down-to-earth. The way that she wasn't justifying going out with her best friend's guy was pretty good, but she kept on talking about the temptation going on. I just really liked the book, and I would recommend it to all.

Sweet and Spunky,

Confessions Of A Boyfreind Stealer is the online diary of Genesis Bell, sixteen and half year-old ex-best friend to CJ Thompson and Tasha Dombrowski and aspiring television producer. Normally known as one of The Terribles, when caught 'stealing' her best friend's boyfriends, things change. No longer a Terrible, Genesis sets about setting the record straight, in the form of an online blog. Genesis, the more reserved, less fiery and in-your-face friend of the three, was always the one how kept things in control; she kept secrets, mended broken hearts (the hearts of the boys her friends so heartlessly dumped, not her friends who didn't need or want any sympathy) and was the nice one. In this book she learns more about herself and comes several steps closer to her dream of producing documentries and reality shows; when she films the party of the year. This book, although aimed for an older audience; the scenes being a little unsuitable for anyone under 13, is likely to entertain the younger more. The plot is very ambitous and hard to believe at times, while the writing can be patchy in some places and the characters pretty shallow; never the less this book was enjoyable and easy to read into spare moment. While the book screams of a sequel (the blog of Genesis's ex best friend CJ, which is mentioned on the first page), I believe that when the time comes I will read it. If you feel like an easy read, something that isn't serious and won't have you pondering about the meaning of life, then this is the book for you - sweet, spunky, you can not help cheering Genesis on, nor cringing at her stupidity at times. A Kid's Review
This review is from: Confessions of a Boyfriend Stealer (Paperback)
omg this is the best book ive ever read. I showed it to my friends and we think of it as a bible now. I mean a girl that her best friends "boyfriends" like. i mean that is just outragously funny! And then add comments in the middle of it. Robynn HAS to make a sequel. I think if she does make a sequel it should be about CJ's blog.^^
