Book Description

Dating is one of the great adventures in a person’s life. It can be full of mystery, fun, disappointment, humor, joy, suspense, romance, heartbreak, and ecstasy—sometimes all in one date! Readers will enjoy these sometimes exhilarating, sometimes touching, sometimes funny, and sometimes embarrassing stories of the author’s real life experiences. Many of them have a surprise ending because on a date, as in life, you never know what will happen!

“Hysterical, devastating, light-hearted, introspective... Thomas Dunker's book is a candid look at the roller coaster adventures of dating. It is a good read for both women AND men, who will undoubtedly identify with and learn from his encounters with the opposite sex. The reader will turn the last page feeling thoroughly entertained.” –A. Roorbach

Editorial Reviews

This is light reading, though watch it, you might find yourself laughing out loud and maybe even shedding a tear. You may even be shocked, so when you get into this book, put your seat belt on just in case! If you want to feel sexier and healthier and smarter, maybe even drop a few pounds, read Dunker's book "That's Not Food!"

From the Author

Have fun reading this collection of short stories. Some you'll like some more than others. All will surprise you with an ending you probably didn't expect, like most dating stories. Would I have behaved differently on hindsight, yeah, sometimes, but no one can change the past. Happily, we can learn from the past. I've learned a lot but relationships are still an adventure, every day! Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Foolish he is not February 17, 2009
Tom's descriptions of meeting and dating some great women are witty, poignant and yes, surprising. His descriptions of love making are subtle and beautiful. He is perhaps a dating fool, but no fool would have been able to write with such personal vulnerability and sensitivity.
Don't forget about the hilarious and scary dates either. Everyone has had those experiences.
Fun and well written with lovely descriptions of people and places. Truth is in the details.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dunker says it all! January 22, 2009
Read this book! Tom Dunker is a very funny man. This is an easy and entertaining read which all singles can relate to! Tom can banter with the best of them - which is why I enjoyed dating him. He's witty, he's articulate, he's interesting and he's a hell of a lot of fun. His stories transcend the fact that we all have high hopes. Simply stated, all we really seek is normalcy in our relationships, the real deal. The dating world is not predictable and through Tom's stories we can see that dating brings so many unexpected emotions to the surface, we seem to never be prepared for what comes 'next'. It's the rollercoaster of life as we single's know it...may we all find what we seek. The last puzzle piece is there...we just have to keep looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Confessions" Envy May 8, 2009
By Vin
In my next life I want to be Thomas Dunker. You'll have to read his "Confessions" to know why. And you should. Rarely do you find the combination of great "real life" stories and the ability of that someone to tell that story in such an entertaining a way that makes you feel as if you were there, as if you were him. With this subject matter it's a runaway thrill. Exotic locations, interesting people, unlikely situations and a range of emotions...story after story. You can imagine yourself sitting on location with the author regailing you with each chapter, and not wanting him to stop. A must read that is unique, that is real and, like me, will make you envy Mr. Dunker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dunk you crack me up! April 8, 2009
When a friend writes a book like this it is a bit odd. Initially I felt like a voyeur, looking into someone's private world. Dunker's humor quickly transformed my uneasiness into shared laughter. We have all had adventures in the dating world, and like Dunker I have had more than my share. I am glad that I am not alone in what can be a most frustrating world.
Dunker is a real gutsy guy to put it all out there for the world to read. His book is funny, honest, and a joy to read. Glad to have had the chance to read it, and I am waiting for the next book to be published. Good job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dating revelations February 2, 2009
I first met Tom Dunker at a fraternity party in the 70's with my (future) husband and I knew from that time forward any subsequent gatherings with Tom would be a guaranteed good time. We knew Tom dated but had few details. This book is a revelation! I hear Tom's voice as he describes his experiences; he writes as he would tell the story. Tom shares his perspective on each new dating experience with such flare and humorous insight. A fun read by a very talented writer. I loved the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughing at single life January 25, 2009
this is a wonderful collection of dating experiences. I loved it for many reasons but one is the fact the reader can read each story and pick it up to relive another dating adventure with Tom. Tom's witty writing style relates his "interesting dates" so that the reader can laugh and empathize with his dilemas. All of us singles can reflect on our funny, humilating and disappointing dates after reading one of Tom's dates.

I highly recommend this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grand Tour February 4, 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a lively Grand Tour of the dating world, from Omaha to Nepal. If you're dating, you'll love reading about Mr. Dunker's escapades and maybe even pick up a few dating tips. If you're beyond the single life, you'll find yourself in memory lane reliving dates both good and bad. I especially enjoyed the descriptive settings of the various stories; you'll feel you have visited (or want to visit) these romantic locations after reading this fun book.
