Timeless Toothless Classic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Confessions of a Big Lanky Dope (Audio CD)
I have rarely heard anything quite like "Lanky Dope", in this life, or the previous one. The instruction book for tape recorders in the 1970s should have included a copy of this record in the "do not do this!!.." department. But yet, the music, if I may call it that, is SO honest and SO in-yer-face/ happy-just-to-be-doing-it, that to these ears, it states what it means to be able to pick up an instrument, plug in and play. Pure and simple: it is joy, happiness and friendship on vinyl - now on compact disc. This album is the godfather of punk: sloppy & loud; the template for D.I.Y.: this band did it all themselves at home with 2 mics and 2 tracks; and a vision of the future: the core band is still doin' it today disguised as The Breetles. The music is shockingly open and real and adventurously un-professional. That Rhubarb's Revenge" exists today is tribute to the vision of its creators. That it is now available worldwide on CD, well, that's the rest of the joke...

HISTOGRAM CURRYCOMB EN LA ANEMONE,
By A Customer
This review is from: Confessions of a Big Lanky Dope (Audio CD)
Creepy hippie-haired head band, absolutely charming in its period-piece early 70s FAR OUT jamming, man. Some good covers, some even better originals. Murky tapedeck homemade stir-fry stew-fi. Strange and slightly off, you'll dig this album. Like a hole in the head. What a faded decade we made! I was there, in similar beatitude buzzings. Then play on.
