3.0 out of 5 stars Read as a Joke;suprisingly enjoyable
Hokay, I'll admit that being a man, I set out to read this book for laughs because supposedly all romance novels are sappy and cheesy.(Dodges pots and pans thrown by female Amazon members.)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Funny Read With Memorable Characters!, June 8, 2005
One of my favorite historical romance authors has taken a detour and for her latest effort has penned a rather quirky chick-lit/contemporary romance that was highly entertaining and fun to read.

Brenda is a woman that has not had the best track record with men, take her latest...Larry. "Mr. Perfect" has it all except for a personality that's not obnoxious oh...and we can't forget that he just dumped Brenda on New Years Eve. Well, she's not going to let that stop her. No way our Brenda is made of much sterner stuff and in a moment of insight decides to head into a very expensive lingerie store in order to console herself. This starts her off on a lingerie addiction that she is only too happy to accomodate. Now if she could just get over the man that she woke up with earlier in the day. Of course Yes, I did say man but you must read the book in order to find out just how mystery man fits in!

Never fear Brenda along with a wonderful secondary cast tell a rather funny tale of finding love where you least expect to find it, with the last person you thought possible. This was a fun chick-lit read and although written in first person not obnoxious in anyway. This is one read that I highly recommend, and I hope that Ms. Ashley continues penning heartwarming contemporaries.

3.0 out of 5 stars Read as a Joke;suprisingly enjoyable, June 5, 2005
Hokay, I'll admit that being a man, I set out to read this book for laughs because supposedly all romance novels are sappy and cheesy.(Dodges pots and pans thrown by female Amazon members.)
However, to my suprise, this was a pretty good yarn. I cheered for Brenda when she told Larry to piss off. Clarissa and David's quietly developing romance was nice to follow as well.

The members of the old hippie band "Bohemian Love Child" were great supporting characters as well as Brenda's somewhat goofy boss Tony. Nick seemed like a fairly likable male lead.
Only thing I have to complain about is what happened to poor Tim,
the poor morning DJ who Tony talked into bungee jumping and getting in a tank with sharks to boost ratings. It'd be great if Jennifer Ashley did a sort of sequel where poor ol' Tim finds romance.

2.0 out of 5 stars ridiculous - and frankly icky, November 21, 2005
The beginning of this book was pretty good - but that just made it's downward spiral all the more painful.

I got extremely tired of Brenda's never-ending self-doubt, her mothers 'defiant' public displays of affection with her son's (18 year younger) best friend (I'm sorry, that was just icky and not well done of them - and it's not that the woman is the one old enough to be the others parent. It would be just as inappropriate if it were their father with the daughters best friend) and her obnoxious boss Tony. I wanted to throw the book out somewhere around that horrible scene on the boat - how much dysfunctional, childish behavior do you really want to spend your time reading about?

If half the size, this book may have been a cute read. As it is it's a long drawn out farce.

4.0 out of 5 stars lighthearted contemporary romance, May 25, 2005
On December 31, wealthy Larry "Mr. Perfect" Bryant ends his relationship with San Diego KCLP DJ Brenda Scott. Depressed she comes home where she joins her roommate Clarissa's New Year's Eve party. The next morning, Brenda awakens to find a hunk in her bed; she has no idea who he is or how he got there or even the slightest details.

Feeling a bit better about turning into a wild woman at least for a night and she hopes that wild is the apropos word as she remembers nothing after several martinis, Brenda has become fixated on women's lingerie wearing sexy expensive items under her business apparel to remind her that she is the mouse that roared. However, two months since the life changing event, Brenda meets the hunk again. Nick Jordan thinks Brenda is a wild woman unaware of her real past. Besides wanting to strip off her clothing, he strips away her secrets to include her lunatic boss, her failed brother, her sex driven mother, and her obsession as he falls in love with his Brenda that make her his Ms. Perfect.

CONFESSIONS OF A LINGERIE ADDICT is a lighthearted contemporary romance. Brenda is a nice person helping others cope and coping herself by wearing sexy underwear that makes her feel more desirable. Nick is her terrific stud who slowly learns all of his beloved's secrets and falls in love with each Brenda he uncovers. Jennifer Ashley writes a warm amusing romp that is fun to follow as Nick peels away the complex layers that make up Brenda while wanting to add him as the biggest most loving piece of the puzzle.

4.0 out of 5 stars The title intrigued me....., July 23, 2005
I picked this up due to the title and front cover, to read on a business trip. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this book from cover to cover! Brenda Scott made me laugh, cry and want to shout out "you go girl"! I felt like I was part of the story from the very beginning and couldn't wait to get home and find other books written by this Author!

3.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a Lingerie Addict, July 13, 2005
After being dumped by "Mr. Perfect", aka, Larry, Brenda goes to a New Year's Party and gets smashed. When she wakes up in a strange hotel room, naked, next to a man she does not know, she begins to change her life. Her first step is to buy sexy lingerie. In fact, she amasses quite a collection of it as the weeks pass. Meanwhile, she does not know who the stranger was, just that he looked darn good. Then, she meets him. He has no idea who she is either, other than the woman he woke up with after getting too drunk. However, Nick, as he is named, has been looking for her since that night. Like Brenda, he's a DJ on a rival station, and just coming out of a bad relationship. Their dating life starts off well, so much so that their respective bosses, especially Brenda's, snatch it up as a cross station promo opportunity. On the day of the highly publicized date, Brenda fails to show up. Her mother has also begun dating, a man Brenda's age, and it's hard for her to cope with. Nick does forgive her, and they continue to see each other, but it's not without problems. Brenda's family is being torn to shreds by conflict over the fact that her mom is dating her brother's ex best friend. Said brother is in the middle of a bad divorce, dating her roommate, and somehow gets arrested in Mexico. Bailing him out requires the help of Mr. Perfect, who now wants her back. There's also the station manager whose hair trigger temper goes off without warning, and who has been known to literally feed DJ's to the sharks.

*** Most chick lit isn't worth your time. However, Making It is the exception to that rule. Each book is filled with crazy, realistic incidents that work together to "make it" a great read. This is true of Confessions of a Lingerie Addict as well. ***

5.0 out of 5 stars Lingerie Laughter, July 28, 2005
By
Sonya I Vezina (Milford, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
I totally enjoyed this book. It is like I am reading about myself. The situations that Brenda gets herself into will make you laugh. I would compare this novel to Confessions of a Shopaholic, this one is just as good but with lingerie being the items that are being shopped for. I would recommend this for any Shopaholic who enjoys wearing lingerie or who would like to wear lingerie.
