Book Description

April 4, 2012
After his marriage ends, Chad Stone begins a middle-aged dating adventure in search of the last great love of his life. As he learns how to date all over again, he shares his dating discoveries that he calls "Babe Magnet Rules." Stone quickly discovers that his soul mate isn’t going to knock unannounced at his front door. (Babe Magnet Rule #9: When in doubt, a Babe Magnet gets his butt off the couch and goes out.) He learns how to woo a woman by paying attention to what women appreciate. (Babe Magnet Rule #36: Any time a man cooks a meal for a woman, he gets relationship points.) And he learns how to stand apart from all of the clueless single men. (Babe Magnet Rule #87: Be a gentleman. There are so few gentlemen left in the world these days, and being one is a great way to set yourself apart from the other men that women have been dating.) Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet is a journey of modern self-discovery that is laugh-out-loud funny in some places and poignantly tender in others. Told as a humorous memoir, the book is an entertaining self-help guide to dating for men. For women, the book offers a unique, unvarnished look into the mind of a real man—revealing how a single man thinks and why he behaves as he does. Fascinating, funny and heartfelt, Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet is a triumph of the human spirit and proof that love is possible at any age—as long as you’re willing to embrace it. Stone’s tongue-in-cheek “Babe Magnet” persona turns out to be merely the vehicle he uses to find the last great love of his life.

More About the Author

Chad Stone got divorced after 25 years of marriage and bravely entered the world of modern dating. He embraced his new single life and began to learn everything he could about dating, relationships, and finding love again.

Mr. Stone interviewed single adults of both sexes to get insights about what works and what doesn't work when searching for a romantic partner. He researched online dating, and he helped other single adults write effective online dating profiles. As part of his research, he attended dating events including "speed dating" evenings and dating mixers. His research and personal dating experience became the basis for his humorous memoir, Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet.

The success of Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet led to a book of dating advice for men (and for women who want to understand men). The Babe Magnet Rules of Dating Over 50: 101 Tips for Meeting, Winning & Keeping a New Love is filled with practical dating and relationship advice including how to meet singles, the truth about pickup lines, mistakes you DON'T want to make in online dating, how to maintain a positive attitude during the dating process, and how to keep the passion alive once you've found The One.

Chad Stone shares his own personal brand of dating and relationship advice (often humorous) on his website at www.middleagedbabemagnet.com and on his blog, http://middleagedbabemagnet.blogspot.com/.

Chad Stone owns a successful marketing and public relations business. He lives with his wife in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Honest and Funny Read March 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Let's face it. Getting back into the dating scene after being married can be confusing, challenging, and sometimes laugh-out-loud funny. Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet is a memoir about a 50-something guy who jumps back into the world of dating following his divorce. It is well-written and I read the whole thing in a few days.

By the end of the book, you will know Chad Stone's 92 "Babe Magnet Rules". These are not rigid, obnoxious rules, but rather a capsulation of experiences gained when Stone waded back into the dating pool. Some of these babe magnet rules are as equally applicable to men as they are to women (e.g., tips for dating with kids).

I appreciated the author's ability to weave a lot of humor throughout the book. I had a good laugh when Stone was describing some of the profiles from an online dating site (hello crazy cat ladies). The honest and tender tone kept me reading and hoping that the author would find "the one".

As a female reader, I enjoyed the look into the dating experience from the male perspective. I remember back in my dating years, my girlfriends and I would talk about our experiences a lot, replay events and be a good support network. My guy friends would never be open about their dating experiences, so we never really knew what was going on in their mind. This book helps a bit with that, at least from the perspective of a middle-aged, professional guy. Overall, this was a fun and worthwhile read that will appeal equally to women as it does men. Five stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Money Well Spent! March 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
When a friend of mine turned me on to Chad Stone's new memoir, I didn't know quite what to expect. But he told me it was right up my alley, and the description was intriguing -- and even better, the sample I downloaded to my Kindle was delightfully funny.

I was hooked right away, and finished the book in just a few days. As a man of a certain age who's taken the romantic "do-over" route myself, I found the book by turns familiar, poignant, and spot-on in its portrayal of modern dating life for the over-40s set. And I learned a few things about how to be confident, suave, and persistent in your efforts to find the right woman, too. I wish I'd read this book years ago.

The Babe Magnet Rules are not to be missed -- there are a few I want to frame and hang up on the wall. But don't assume that this book is some snarky extended joke, like all those so-called "rules" books out there. Stone fleshes out his pithy observations with genuine, well-written prose based on his actual dating experiences. Despite his matinee-idol pseudonym, he describes himself as an average joe...which may be so, but he's a superstar when it comes to optimism and self-honesty. He pulls no punches about his motivations, and it's instructive to watch as he negotiates the modern dating minefield, especially the online version that's become so popular lately.

Babe Magnet Rule #92 is the last and best of the bunch: "A Babe Magnet knows when to stop chasing Babes and commit himself completely to the woman of his dreams." Here's hoping I can put that one into play someday.

This book is a lot of fun, but it's educational, too -- and a bargain at ten times the price. Thanks for the tips, Chad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a middle age babe magnet November 24, 2012

I know Chad Stone. I heard his stories that became his book for approximately 2 years before he published it while, we were golfing. You should know that he writes much better than he golf's.

I hope you'll buy it so that he can pay me something for my time. Not really! It was fun, interesting, and hilarious to listen to his adventures as a middle aged Babe Magnet. I'd never thought of him as a Babe Magnet, but that goes to show you. We all have common experiences and that's what his book highlights and helps explain and address.

I was surprised when I read the book how fun it was, and easy to leaf through the pages. I actually read it over a weekend. It actually has some very good advice. I attribute that advice to me-that Chad stole. That I stole from others.

I'm Muller in his book, and all he does is make fun of my own dating behaviors. Going to Europe with women. Difficult break-ups, etc. But that's okay because dating is, we'll its- challenging. But it can be fun and that's what Chad has brought to the book. Fun, thoughtfulness, and a sense of adventure. It really is a primer that anyone could get tips from in the complicated world of dating. I recommend it, and not just because he put me in the book.
