Editorial Reviews

2010 release from the Country singer/songwriter. Katie Armiger has amassed a collection of songs on her third album that touches on just about every emotion. Confident, secure, bold, assertive, vulnerable, and in-your-face could all describe both the songs on this album, as well as the artist who sings them.

All I can say it... Wow! I was kind of a fan of Katie's before this CD, but now I am totally hooked! This CD is amazing! Katie has clearly grown as a songwriter and singer over the past few years, and she clearly shines in Confessions Of A Nice Girl. Here's a break down of the tracks:

1) Best Song Ever - Second best song on the CD. Interesting, fun, and super, super catchy. Warning: after listening to this once, it will be stuck in your head forever! You just want to burst out singing this song every time it comes on! 9.7/10

2) Kiss Me Now - Cool song about being in love with one of your best friends... and he doesn't have a clue, no matter how many hints you drop. 8.7/10

3) That's Why - Love the concept of this song. It's about how someone refuses to let any one into their heart because they are afraid of getting hurt. It's a good song because Katie sounds like she is just trying to explain it to the listeners, but toward the end it sounds like she is really depressed/confused/crying. Love the real emotion. 8.8/10

4) Nice Girl - Eh, this song is alright. Kinda catchy, but the lyrics are a little silly. It's just about someone who is always nice, and is getting sick of being so nice, but is going to stay nice anyway. I relate 100% to this song, and it's still just "meh". 6/10

5) Cry Cry Cry - Sad song about a break up. Just kinda your stereotypical sad break up song, not really anything unique or special, but still touching vocals. 6.3/10

6) Ain't Gonna Happen - Such a fun song! This is one of those hate songs you really want to sing to your ex at the top of your lungs. "Ain't gonna happen, as long as I'm breathing, as long as I"m walking on this Earth. As long as it turns around...

Confessions Of A Nice Girl is Katie Armiger's third album and her strongest work so far.
This album shows how much Katie has grown since her last CD Believe. Her writing and vocals are stronger and she's added more depth and maturity to her lyrics.

It kicks off with the current single Best Song Ever which is a seriously catchy uptempo. As are the majority of the songs on this album such as Kiss Me Now, That's Why, Nice Girl, Ain't Gonna Happen and Can You Handle It which also includes Katrina Elam on backing vocals.
There are of course some sorrowful ballads like Cry Cry Cry and Strong Enough.

But the stand out song on the album is surely the lovely, bittersweet Leaving Home.To anyone who has recently left home this will easily bring a tear to your eye.

Confessions... will definitely please all Katie Armiger fans and if you're new to her music this is the one to start with.A strong Pop/Country album from a strong up and coming singer.

Prime Cuts: Best Song Ever, That's Why, I Will Be, Leaving Home.

I was fortunate enough to catch Katie opening for Darius Rucker just last week. I was a little surprised to see only her and her guitarist. My interest in Katie was piqued when she started singing. Her voice was very strong and her songwriting ability is incredible for someone who is only 20. Jumping back into the car after the show, I immediately dug her up on Spotify and have been listening to the album ever since.

The production on the album is solid, though somewhat stereotypical of a country album. Her voice, while still incredibly strong, does have the banter (particularly in "Nice Girl") and twang found commonly in country albums. Her lyrics are "real", personal and completely relatable to just about anyone. The chorus of "Best Song Ever" is very catchy and I find myself going back to that song time and time again. The Repeat button will wear thin if I keep it up!

I find that I'm often more interested in male country artists, but Katie has just elbowed her way close to the top of my country list. I think it's high time to check out the rest of her work.

The great things with Katie are her pure VOICE, her LYRICS, her SINCERITY, and the TUNE. Here there are far too many pounding, over-produced songs where guitars and drums mask the voice and the lyrics are just silly and trite. - Which is, of course, OK for a pop song, but such a waste when you consider the two cracking country albums she's made so far.

Her music is ok, but I am older so guess I am not really into it. I am giving them to my daughter in law. I am sure she will like them.
