3.0 out of 5 stars Left unprepared, May 14, 2011
By
This review is from: Confessions of a Pregnant Princess (Paperback)
To be honest, I did not finish this book. Not because it was dragged out or I was too busy. I just realized 50 pages in that I was not hooked.

I could not sympathize with the heroine and none of the other characters seemed worth it. I thought this was a romance novel or chick lit (both of which I love) and it might have ended that way. But I was really unprepared for the first few chapters of this book. I thought that the main character, Venus, was going to be a sweet woman romanced by a young, handsome prince. Maybe the prince starts out as a workaholic and she gets tempted by a hunky mechanic. But she and the prince live happily ever after as husband and wife... in a castle. Big assumption on my part.

**Minor Spoilers** The main character, Venus, was married 3 times before her 25th birthday, she is still attracted to her green-haired ex-girlfriend who is marrying a transvestite, she works in a porn shop, and her last job was really, really sketch. Think stripper + masturbation. During that sketch job she met the first hero, Prince Marcello. Who happens to be older than her parents. That was the final straw for me. I cannot really understand romances that involve age differences greater than 25 years.

I am sorry that I could not review the entire book for you. Keep in mind that any spoilers I gave came from the very beginning and there are probably many pleasant surprises awaiting you if you choose to read farther than I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give this book a chance!, October 20, 2011
My mom was "unprepared" so she didn't finish this book and gave it to me. I was a little surprised in the begining with the main character Venus' lifestyle, and there was couple of times that I was unsure, but once I got into it, I understood Venus, and wanted to find out how it was all going to turn out. When she gets to Italy, that is where the real story begins. She goes on an adventure and has new obstacles in front of her, but you can't help but want the best for her. Don't judge the princess by her past, and give this book a chance. My mom finally did and she liked it too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read, July 11, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Confessions of a Pregnant Princess (Paperback)
I read this book, thinking that it would be an addition to my List Mania list: Belly Bump Books: Chick Lit You'll Love. I was a bit surprised to find that pregnancy doesn't hit the pages until the book is almost over (I'm not giving anything away - just look at the title!). Despite that, I found this to be a fun, light book- perfect for the beach or on vacation. Even though I didn't want to, I really came to love Venus and I adore her Faux Pa, Whitman. Filled with intrigue suspense, and yes, true love, this is a great read.
