A great sampling of a great artist's work, April 21, 2011

I've been an avid fan of Alain Bashung's music for about a decade now. I have many of his albums, including the recent "
Osez Bashung" (a sort-of best-of collection) and "
Dimanches a l'Elysee" (another excellent and more recent live CD). All of Bashung's live recordings are great, but I especially like "Confessions publiques" as a particularly good presentation of Bashung's greatest years and his best music (in my opinion, anyway). As usual, he has excellent musicians and the kind of extended arrangements that are generally possible only in a live setting. If you wish to sample this great musician in peak form, get this CD. Two other highly recommended CDs are "
Osez Joséphine" and "
Fantaisie Militaire."
