Book Description

April 1, 2004
Take a behind-the-scenes no-holds-barred tour of your neighborhood strip club in Confessions of a Stripper--Tales from the VIP Room. These adventures--both high and low--in the topless trade are culled from author Lacey Lane's seven years as an exotic dancer. This book takes you on an outlandish journey, from Lane's self-esteem issues, which provided the impetus for her entry into the skin biz, to the mysterious VIP Room, where anything and everything can happen. It's a parade through the screwy world of the strip club, where freaks, fetishists, scammers, high rollers, perverts, and even normal guys all congregate to partake in prurient fantasies of the flesh. Lane also provides a plethora of helpful hints for men--and women--who routinely frequent strip clubs, from tipping the bouncers and not getting suckered by roses and champagne to negotiating for services and yes, taking home a dancer.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

After seven years in the topless trade, Lacey Lane permanently retired her g-string. Now she divides her time between the serenity of Scottsdale and the insanity of Los Angeles.

"I started moving slowly, trying to work my way into the core of the beat. Soon, I forgot I was perched atop a bar and thought only of the music's rhythm, freeing my body to move in synch with the beat. I peeled my bottom wrap off seductively and hardly heard the whistles and catcalls that followed. Ditto for my top; I was now just a skimpy T-back away from full nudity, and the best part about it was that I was becoming more at ease with the situation. Or maybe I was an exhibitionist at heart. Or I was so goddam petrified that nothing mattered. Whatever the case, inside, I was celebrating. I truly felt liberated."

1.0 out of 5 stars who knew that stripping could be so boring, October 3, 2004
This review is from: Confessions of a Stripper: Tales from the VIP Room (Paperback)
As someone that works in the sex industry - i am always looking for material that doesn't demean or ridicule girls in my field. Frankly, this book did just that. Lacey Lane held herself up to be a pristine stripper with morals of gold - while her fellow dancers are portrayed to be a little more nasty and a little more seedy, and a little more willing to do anything for a dollar. In the beginning Ms Lane hints that her life, like the life of any dancer, was chock full of drama ... and yet we heard very little about it.

As for the actual tales from the VIP room, I have heard them all before, and they were told with a little more vim and vigor the first time I heard them.

I was so disappointed in this book

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Tame and too boring!, October 16, 2006
This review is from: Confessions of a Stripper: Tales from the VIP Room (Paperback)
This one is a fast read, but it's fast because it's boring! The author's issues with self-aggrandizement are really present in her writing...she is perfect and everyone else has the most horrific flaws! She never waivers to put someone down and yet, never makes any intention of trying to figure out why the person is acting/reacting in a certain way. I was bored with her tales of the VIP because none of it was really surprising to me. Actually, I came away wondering why she found it so amusing??

1.0 out of 5 stars Surface Skimming, June 25, 2004
By
Charles T. Scott (Phoenix, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Confessions of a Stripper: Tales from the VIP Room (Paperback)
This book was lame. After a few chapters about the stereotypical dancer, the stereotypical strip club owner, the stereotypical strip club DJ, The stereotypical strip club bouncer, the author breaks the book into short (1-3 pages)chapters about clients. Each client has a boring story to accompany him (or her) None of them are particularly interesting, shocking, or entertaining. One guy likes feet, one guy likes lingerie. etc.

If a skin-a-max movie could be a book, this would be it.
