4.0 out of 5 stars amusing chick lit tale, May 25, 2005
Maysfield Sheriff Jack Logan thought his worse two problem are the imminent flood and living down his reputation as a town bad boy during his wild oats youth. He soon realizes he is way off in his assessment when he pulls Stephanie Monroe out of the creek where she sank her SUV. She is in town seeking her runaway business partner..

Jack takes a soaked Stephanie to the sheriff's office where dressed to the part she pretends to be an L.A bad girl. Jack can see through her fake image to the small girl- sweet woman that Stephanie tries to hide. As the townsfolk complain about Stephanie's outrageousness and Jack is forced to arrest her for indecent behavior that even he as a reformed bad guy knows is nothing, they fall in love, but she fled a hometown that is a clone of Maysfield for the bright city lights.

This amusing chick lit tale centers on the premise that Jack was once a bad boy while Stephanie was once a good girl, but both easily sees inside the other to a caring heart. The amusing tale focuses on Jack knowing he should not fall in love with the transient, but does and Stephanie knowing that she should not fall in love with the local yokel but she does. Susanna Carr provides a wickedly hot humorous fun tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem from page one, June 28, 2005

Confessions of a "Wicked" Woman is a charming tale by Susanna Carr.

Sheriff Jack Logan feels in over his head. He has his former bad boy rep to live down and the legend of his father to live up to as sheriff. To top it all off a major flood is coming to his small town of Mayfield. He rescues Stephanie Monroe from a sinking car and all his bad boy ways come screaming back.

Stephanie Monroe is only in this small town to get her business partner back to L.A. On her first day in Mayfield she is tossed in jail. Bad enough her mind keeps wandering to the hunky sheriff. She has her life all planned out and living in a small town is not in her day planner.

Jack and Stephanie are funny, sweet and oh so hot. They both fight this attraction but lord when they give in it's a scorcher.

Susanna Carr writes with such humor and passion in every word. The characters just come alive on the pages. Looking forward to her next book.

(VINE VOICE)
Stephanie is furious with her business partner/friend Venus. Unfortunately for their business, Venus has decided to extend her vacation in her home town of Mayfield, even if it means flaking on their biggest client yet. On her way to retriving the obstinant Venus, Stephanie is caught in a flash flood. Luckily for Stephanie, she is saved by Sherif Jack Logan. The same can not be said of her clothes.

Unbeknownst to Stephanie, the town of Mayfield has passed a city ordinace restricting the type of clothing people can wear, and after her dunking in the flood, Stephanie doesn't measure up. Miscommunication results in good girl Stephanie being mistakenly classified as a bad girl. Stephanie decides to use this to her advantage to play out her fantasies. The object of her fantasies is Sherif Jack Logan.

Sherif Jack Logan is trying to live down his bad-boy reputation and live up to his Dad's reputation, as the former sherif. He knows he should stay away from Stephanie, but she is too much temptation for his wild side to resist.

When Stephanie and Jack come together sparks fly! However, their time together is bittersweet because they both think it won't last. He won't leave his hometown, and she will never go back to small town life.

How will it all end? Jack and Stephanie both seem to want different thing out of life, but their feelings for each other are undeniable. A plot twist involving Venus makes the ending somewhat unpredictable.

I think that this book is a good summer read (or anytime you want something light). There was not as many steamy parts as other books in the Wicked Woman series, but what was there was good (The jail cell scene was definitely worth the read). I don't think I will read this book again, but I'm glad that I did. I recommend it to any fan of ChickLit, especially those who have read and liked Wicked Woman books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sexy love scenes, but. . ., April 3, 2009

This review is from: Confessions Of A Wicked Woman (Mass Market Paperback)
I had a hard time getting into this book. The beginning dragged on, and what was supposed to be an opening scene that brought adrenaline through a reader, the descriptions were so long, I lost track of what was going on. I mean if a car begins to hydroplane out of control, do you take 2 pages to describe it until it finally comes to a halt?

The introduction of the heroine made me think she was nothing but a bimbo. I glazed over that (and most of the sentences that I thought were more useless than helpful) and moved on to the plot.

Enter the hero. I couldn't say one thing bad about the author's writing when he was around. It gave me a chance to understand someone with a BRAIN! Not only that, but he was deliciously attractive with this bad boy image.

You want hot scenes? This book certainly steamed things up. No holding back, it got nicely graphic!

I didn't care for being left out of the "reason" for the heroine's trip to that bumble 'butt' hick town. Chasing her partner who just wanted a vacation didn't sit right with me. It made me think that the heroine was even MORE of an idiot for being there, among the other stupid things she did.

Catching a typo got me laughing. They began a quote that they didn't finish. And started a paragraph with a sentence that belonged in the previous one, and it threw me off a bit. Certainly don't like seeing typos. Isnt' that what editors are for?

I wouldn't recommend it as a favorite, but it wasn't the worst book I've read.

5.0 out of 5 stars witty and sexy as always, August 14, 2006

This review is from: Confessions Of A Wicked Woman (Mass Market Paperback)
Susanna Carr always manages to make her books sexy, but with the right amount of sensuality in it. Not too much so that people who don't like erotic books would dislike it but just the right amount so that everyone is satisfied. There were some really funny scenes in the book, especially the one about "his Little Jack" (so very romantic scene) but you'll know what I'm talking about once you read it. (pg 91, really my favorite page) Her plots are always entertaining and her characters witty and sexy. And between those characters is ofcourse always the hot chemistry that Susanna Carr can put on paper so well. The writing style is very fluent, it keeps you turning the pages and before you know it you'll be at the end of the book. This is definitely a nice addition to your stack of books!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as her short stories, May 23, 2005
When I heard that Susanna Carr was going to have a full length novel released I was excited. But for some reason this story did not keep my interest as much as her short stories. Maybe it is because there are just too many of the small town guy vs. big city girl (or want to a be big city girl) stories out there right now for it to make any real impression on me. I just think right now she shows real talent for the short story but needs a little work in developing the a story into a full length book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing, July 24, 2005
Don't waste your time or money on this one. I have come to expect high quality from Brava books, this one should have never been published. The hero and heroine spend little time together and their "love" story is very unrealistic. Yes, a certain amount of reality must be suspended when reading these types of books, but this one is beyond ridiculous. Stephanie falls in love with Jack after spending so little time with him. The book is more about Stephanie's friend Venus and her life than it is about Stephanie and Jack. Besides the sub-par plot, the writing is also very weak. Skip this one and try out anything by Shannon McKenna.
