Great Book, uplifting, useful and filled with compassion,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Confidence Course: Seven Steps to Self-Fulfillment (Hardcover)
This book will help anyone either trying to improve their own self esteem or the self esteem of others. Walter tells a personal uplifting story then gives useful steps for ones own self fulfillment. Do yourself a favor and buy 2 copies, since as soon as you read it, you'll think of someone who needs it more than you do, and you won't want to give away your copy and its too hard to find in the book stores.

A smorgasbord of wisdom seasoned with humanity.,

This review is from: The Confidence Course: Seven Steps to Self-Fulfillment (Hardcover)
Walter Anderson's book, The Confidence Course, is a smorgasbord of wisdom flavored with humility and seasoned with humanity. He doesn't talk down or at the reader, but with the reader. By baring his own neck, heart and soul; Anderson enables the reader to entrust his or her heart to the words in this kind, wise and loving book. If you allow yourself to trust in the writer's words and to suspend whatever disbelief your skepticism or cynicism uses to protect you, you will feel less alone and your spirit will be lifted. The greatest accomplishment of this book and of Walter Anderson is his becoming the loving father to the reader that Mr. Anderson never had as a child. Buy this book to help heal the wounds that hold you back in life.

"Great surface material",

I've owned this book for some time now, and judging by the cover and title, you would think this book offers the complete plan for turning someone with low self-confidence to a totally confident individual. Wrong. This book covers topics such as; "How To Tell a Story", "How To Give A Talk", etc.. Sure, these are important attributes, but...
The last of the 7 steps was, "Smile", yet he gave no advice on the subject. Mr. Anderson is a wonderful writer, and yes, the steps he gives will further ones level of confidence, but there are better books. I was looking through my collection of self-confidence books, and I came across a great one. "I Dare You". Now read that one. This one is missing a lot. Read it anyway.

well I think that this book was pretty cool. Iam only 15 and I read it and it has helped me alot personally inside. I still have trouble not being ever so shy around people but I just tell myself Iam just as good as them if better. Also I have found myself to be noticing how to deal and take responibilites for my own actions and apoligize etc when I know its right. I recommend this book to anyone that needs confidence or self esteem.

Yes, this one works!,

I found this wonderful book by accident, searching for a book of similar title. Intrigued by the professional reviews, still I wasn't sure--so I checked it out at the library. It worked for me. I've now bought three more as gifts for family and friends and it's working for them too. The Confidence Course is a gem: Wisdom well-told.

...if only I really had attended a course like this when I was in school. Not only have the lessons helped me grow in confidence, I have to say it was a pleasure to read. This is the real thing, folks. Finally.

I bought this book for myself and found it immensely helpful for pulling me out of a slump. I then bought a copy for a friend who is in a prison's administration segregation unit (locked-up 23-1/2 hours a day. No human contact). He has in-turned loaned it out to other convicts who now want their own copy. Regardless of your background this book really reaches people and teaches confidence.

If you don't believe in yourself, then who will?,
This review is from: The Confidence Course: Seven Steps to Self-Fulfillment (Paperback)
"Confidence is the key to success", ok that is not a secret, but how to gain that consciousness of our inner power could be a tricky quest.
This book offers you twenty simple lessons, that addresses simple and direct solutions that will teach anyone how to gain self assurance, and attract others people attention and respect. You will find this book to be a personal workbook with exercises and examples from real life situations. The seven steps developed along the 20 lessons in the book are: - Identify who is responsible. - Believe in something big. - Practice tolerance. - Be brave. - Love someone. - Be ambitious. - Smile. But a word of advice, no book can do anything for you that you are no willing to do. Buy this book only if you are willing to translate into action what you will learn, .. confidence can only be obtained from practice.

The best motivational book I have ever read!,
By Heather Dewey Pettet (Tampa, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Confidence Course (Audio Cassette)
I first bought a copy of the audiocassette version of Walter Anderson's seminar in 1999. It just happened to catch my eye in a bookstore, and the premise seemed simple. Intrigued, I planned to take it home and listen to it. Instead, I played it on the way home. Maybe I shouldn't have, because I was paying too much attention to the tape and not on driving. His voice was so moving and powerful that it made me take notice. His simple style caught me off-guard, and was the best motivator I ever could have had. Walter became a presence in my life, and I feel that my life turned around because of him. I also feel I'm a better writer because of him.I made at least two copies of the tape, and after they all warped, I bought a new original set. After it became available, I decided I wanted to get the book. After checking out a copy of my local library so many times I couldn't check it out any more, I bought a copy. I've only had it for a couple of months, but it is already dog-eared and written in. It feels like I've owned it for years. I could keep this a balanced review and say something negative, but there isn't any point. There is nothing negative I could ever say about about this book. Every word is weighted with his earnestness and motivates the reader to search within himself to find out what he desires most. As he did with me, Walter will excitedly tell you to dream big, and will gently tell you that everyone struggles, and will motivate you to take the risk of doing what it takes to live your dream. His advice was the best I've ever received. Today I am doing what I have always wanted.

Very helpful,
This review is from: The Confidence Course: Seven Steps to Self-Fulfillment (Paperback)
The most useful section of this book to me was learning how to handle mistakes. Handling mistakes can be hard but if you think about it, we all make them, so handling them well is very important to having confidence. A few lessons in the book were less helpful to me but might be more helpful to others. The book is great for helping you get through a good one on one conversation and if you need to entertain a group, it has lessons for that as well! I liked it.
