Best coaching book I have seen,

I am coaching youth, middle school, and travel lax teams and have very little on-field lacrosse experience. Of the tools I have found, this book is the most straightforward. When I see the most experienced coaches work, they are using the drills in this book. There is still a lack of good books on intermediate lacrosse offensive and defensive strategies, but this handles all the basics.

I am the parent of two young boys who are showing an interest in lacrosse and recently signed up for a local youth team. I grew up playing baseball and soccer and did not have any idea how the game of lacrosse is played. This book has given me the knowledge of basic skills that I need to play with my sons now and I can see that its more advanced chapters will be useful for years to come. Although its title suggests that it is geared for coaching, I highly recommend it to any parent who is interested in learning about lacrosse and supporting their children as they become involved with this growing sport.

...at last!,
This review is from: The Confident Coach's Guide to Teaching Lacrosse: From Basic Fundamentals to Advanced Player Skills and Team Strategies (Paperback)
Yes, at last a book that covers everything from novice to coaching for Lacrosse. Well written and informative, which makes it interesting and a easy read. I bought this book for my nephew who's a high school Lacrosse coach. He was thrilled, he told me there is almost nothing written about this sport, especially in such an easy to read and informative style. As he said. "If you're interested in Lacrosse, this is the book."

I am very pleased with this book. Great outline of all aspects of the sport. A must have for beginning coaches and/or parents with kids starting to play lacrosse.

While I haven't finished reading the book yet, it has had some great information so far. I have never been a coach for a sport & this has helped out with practice ideas & skill development.

Good for new coach,

This is a good book for a new lax coach at the youth level. Not for an experienced coach or someone who wants to take things to the next level. Provides basics of the game and running a team. Better than most books of this type.

Excellent book for begining lacrosse coaches. It outlines typical practices up to a five day practrice week. As you read further in the book it provides different drills that you can plug and play into the practice outline stated in the begining. For example: Pracatice Outline: 15 Minutes LINE DRILLS; then the book provides 6 Line Drills, that you can substitue in the outline. It also provides insight from the human side of the game. For instance there are secitons on Coach/Parent relationships, Coach/Player relationships, "How to deal with superstars", etc. Very complete manual from rules and fundimentals to tactics and playbook. Hope this helps in your decision of purchase.

This is a very good starter book, especially for teaching the basics to youth. Definitely worth it for a youth coach or assistant coach, or anyone trying to teach the fundamentals to kids. Very reasonable price. I learned a lot from it.

there are better books available,
This review is from: The Confident Coach's Guide to Teaching Lacrosse: From Basic Fundamentals to Advanced Player Skills and Team Strategies (Paperback)
This book is a welcome addition to the lack of material on lacrosse, but it doesn't add much depth to the subject and is not very useful as a reference or as a tool for coaches. I would recommend Dave Pietramala's book over this one, hands down.

Lacrosse Newbie,
This review is from: The Confident Coach's Guide to Teaching Lacrosse: From Basic Fundamentals to Advanced Player Skills and Team Strategies (Paperback)
Since it is nearly impossible to find anything in "Lacrosse for Adults" for those who are new to the sport and would love to learn to play, I got this book in the hopes of learning the basics. I haven't had a chance to put the new knowledge to the test in either play or instruction, but it was a very valuable tool for the novice player or coach. GO MAMMOTH! GO OUTLAWS!
