Book Description

September 1, 2001 General Aviation Reading series
Written for pilots of all skill levels and interest, this book explores common misconceptions regarding piloting risks and shows what the actual risks are and why. Reflective insight is the basis for this book’s program for risk management, sound decision-making, and judgment. With the bringing together of varied experiences and different perspectives, pilots can examine the risks in each phase of flight: preflight, takeoff, en-route portions of VFR and IFR flight, approach and arrival, and landings. Particular high-risk areas are evaluated as well, including night flight, aerobatics, midair collision risks, special weather considerations, and human factors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book for pilots looking for "something else" to read ..., November 19, 2006

This review is from: Confident Flying: A Pilot Upgrade (General Aviation Reading series) (Paperback)
I recommend this book for people who are already pilots, and would like to pick up some text that help them keep their skills up and their head out of the sand. A couple of years after finishing my primary training, I was looking for something that was more "advanced" than my training manuals yet something that will keep me thinking about the issues and dangers.

The book is organized by phases of flight- I find myself thumbing through the preflight section often. But the style of the authors to present their work in essays written individually feels a bit disconnected at times.
