5.0 out of 5 stars Real Manga, Real issues, December 31, 2003
This review is from: Confidential Confessions, Book 2 (Paperback)
Confidential Confessions is a 3-Volume manga series that deals with real-life issues, in a realistic way, its not forced, phoney, or preachy. It seems real.

The first Volume of CC deals has 2 stories, one dealing with suicide and the other dealing with a girl who's taken a lot of wrong turns(leading to prostitution). The Second Volume of CC has one story, and it deals with the touchy issue of Sexual Harrassment.

After reading the story of Suzuki, a girl who is passionate about tennis and is attending an All-girls school known for its Tennis program which is coached by Todo, a man whom sees know wrong in feeling up his students or having them do such chores as pulling his gray hairs, massaging him, or cleaning out his ears in private, it makes you think. She just wants to play tennis, and so do the other girls, but soon his advances become more frequent and his remarks more embaressing as the Inter-High tournament is coming closer and closer. He often commenting about their virginity or period. Making them feel inferior. He doesn't understand the rights of a human being, he believes as long as he doesn't "seem" to have an ulterior motive its "okay", its like to him, unless he's physically abusing them, its okay.

The Second Volume of Confidential Confessions is what Womans Rights are really about.! Not about burning bras or fighting to be let into a golf club or whatever. No, what its really about is woman who have REAL problems, and making them known, and getting people aware. Problems like sexual harrassment go on everyday, and we just let them pass all the time. I've been a victim to it more times then I can even count.

Confidential Confessions doesn't give you the answers, but it does give you some insight into some issues that have been going on for years. And only in recent times have they just become to get noticed. If you like real stories, with real problems, and real people then you will like Confidential Confessions. Its not glossed over and the stories don't seem forced or contrived, but fresh and real. So give CC a try.! And the endings, as depressing as they may seem, can be uplifting because of what the people have come out of.

God Bless & *Enjoy* ~Amy

4.0 out of 5 stars so/so, December 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Confidential Confessions, Book 2 (Paperback)
Receiving the book took longer than it should've but only two days,so I only took off one star. The book itself was in better condition than I had hoped. The only things wrong with the books-bent cover corners,a little yellowed with age, book feels flimsy-ish from being held open too wide. All-in-all,a great buy (i paid less than a quarter of what the book is worth)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good manga, August 21, 2011

The first installment of this manga had two shorter stories, but this one focuses on one story, related to the touchy topic of sexual harassment. A gym teacher is always touching his students inappropriately, but he does so in a way that make it seem not so obvious, and he is also very intimidating so girls are afraid to speak up about him, and he also has the girls at his school do weird personal stuff for him like pulling his gray hairs or massaging him. The story is very raw, and the endings of 'Confidential Confessions' are not always happy.

I absolutely love this series. Momochi tackles head-on many issues that are rarely addressed, and does so in a way that does not come across as preachy or full of NARM. This is one of my favourite series and I recommend it to anyone interested in these kinds of stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars You may just want to read., November 22, 2003
This review is from: Confidential Confessions, Book 2 (Paperback)
I picked this three-book series up the other day, not really knowing what it was prior to. The whole series is amazing, this book especially.

It centers around a girl named Suzuki, who chooses to go to an all-girls school solely for the reputation of the tennis coach there. He is known as the best of the best, and she felt lucky she could be trained by him. But when the coach starts saying inappropriate things to the team, touching them in places he shouldn't, etc. Suzuki gets more than angry. She can't sleep, eat, or concentrate. And when she finally tells the school, they don't believe her. The odds are really against her in her fight against sexual harrasment.

I recommend this book to just about everyone over the age of 16, it's a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really gritty stuff., December 21, 2010

I gave this a four because it details the aspects of what basically what harassment is and how it affects the victims on the Tennis Club. The coach was a dirty, nasty, and inappropriate individual who should have been removed a while ago. It made me sad but it empowered me and I hope when my cousin is older that she reads this too. I hope she doesn't get too bogged down by the negative overtones but empowered by what the main character does against a corrupt school faculty. The fact she goes to the PA system to expose the coach proves how difficult it is for young women who attend high school, ride the mass transit, and are dealt a bad hand by their peers. Eventually, the principal breaks down and he gets rid of that nasty coach.
