5.0 out of 5 stars Confidentially, This Is A Hit!
This is Peter White's best effort since Perfect Moment was released in 1998. In tracks such as Talkin' Bout Love, How Does It Feel, and Confidential, he gives us the familiar and beautiful Peter White touch. His playing is up front and in the lead, with the rest of the music surrounding his melodies, complementing and contrasting them.

In other tunes such as, Are You...

3.0 out of 5 stars Over-programmed...
Peter White tried to create a "gentle-touch" atmosphere on his latest recording Confidential. Did he succeed? To some extend, and on those tracks that are not so much drum-over-programmed as the first three. If he had used less programming in favor of acoustic instruments (at least on drums side) that would create much better exposure to the confidentiality of White's...

His playing is up front and in the lead, with the rest of the music surrounding his melodies, complementing and contrasting them.

In other tunes such as, Are You Mine, Lost Without Your Love and Endless Journey, he is content to let other artists have the spotlight. Of special note are Mindi Abair, Brian Culbertson, Michael Paulo and David Sparkman. Chris Botti's playing on Stormfront is the perfect compliment to Peter's gentle, understated rhythm.

This is a mature and beautiful collection of music and is highly recommended. Bravo, Peter White!

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT ELEVATOR MUSIC!, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Confidential (Audio CD)
After listening to this CD a couple times, I will be keeping it on my iPod playlist for some time. It will come in quite handy when I want to drown out the voices of people with "single phase" minds! Yes, it is supposed to be relaxing! Comparing this to Muzak is nothing short of ignorant! On a better note, I would tend to agree that Peter White is creative when it comes to mixing up his sound with other artists. Yet another reason to really appreciate the jazz community. If you are a Peter White fan, you will not be let down.

4.0 out of 5 stars "truly one of the best guitarist around today ~ Peter White", March 30, 2004
This review is from: Confidential (Audio CD)
Sony Records presents a new jazz release "Confidential", featuring one of my favorite jazz artist, Peter White ~ listen as White creates that special mood for all music and jazz lovers ~ special guests include Mindi Abair (soprano sax), Chris Botti (trumpet), Paul Brown (guitar/electric), Brian Culbertson (keyboard), and Christopher Cross (vocals), captures the listeners attention from all selections composed by White (which is all but one of the eleven tracks).

Stand outs are ~ "COAST ROAD DRIVE", "TALKIN' BOUT YOU", "LOST WITHOUT YOU LOVE" and "CONFIDENTIAL", performed just the way you like em', soulfully timeless performances with a blend of a haunting phrase or two or three...gotta love it!

I love this album as much as Perfect Moment. Peter has outdone himself on this one. My favorite tracks are Coast Road Drive, Talkin' About Love, Are you Mine and Jump On It. The whole album was done with excellent talent including the recording and arrangements. This album is a must-have for any Peter White fan or anyone who really enjoys Smooth Jazz. Great job, Peter!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's on my "must-have" list if I were stranded on an island!, April 17, 2004

As a "Smooth Jazz" DJ for a small college radio station, I was encouraged by one of my listeners to put together a list of 20 CDs that I would have if I were stranded on a deserted island...

I have to say, reducing my collection of 100's of recordings down to 20 was no small feat, made even harder by the fact that I'm a big Peter White fan!

Since I limited myself to one disc per artist, this turned out to be my 'CD of choice' by Peter White (after much lamenting). As great as his previous recordings are, I am convinced that he is playing 'from the heart' on this one...AND...he's surrounded himself with a host of unbelievably talented artists besides! (including Mindi Abair, Chris Botti, Paul Brown, Christopher Cross, and Brian Culbertson)

Since picking up this CD, I've listened to it many, many times...and still manage to hear special 'gems' throughout this great recording.

Now, I realize that there are folks out there who would disagree with me on whether this is Peter's best, but there's one thing that no one can argue...this is a must-have for Peter White fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great work from Peter White, January 17, 2006
This review is from: Confidential (Audio CD)
I hadn't kept up with Peter White's releases for a while so added "Confidential" to my Christmas wish list. This is an excellent disc, in my opinion his best yet. I haven't been able to displace it from my car stereo after 3 weeks.

This work is a bit more uptempo than his others, many tracks have a pronounced bass drive and subtle programmed textures that add depth and complexity to the music. There's not a clunker on the disc, I highly recommend it. For my money Peter White is one of the best of the smooth jazz lot.

Smooth Jazz great, Peter White has a new release.   As a longtime fan of his music, I decided to give it a review.  White has undergone a complete changeover from his first CD release, "Excuze-moi" in 1990.  The production value of his music recordings shoot up with each release.  It's noticeable with the support of artists like Paul Brown, Brian Culbertson, Chris Botti, Mindi Abair and special guest vocalist, Christopher Cross.  I loved all of the tracks on the CD.  I especially enjoyed, "Coast Road Drive", "How Does It Feel" and "Endless Journey".  White took over a year to complete this new release, and it was a year well spent.  This is his best CD release and an instant classic!

This whole entire album was nothing less than perfection. Peter takes you from one level to another level on each track. The warmth and sensitivity that he puts in his music is fantastic. You can feel every emotion in each song.

Wow! Peter White has done it once again. A terrific album loaded with something for every Smooth Jazz listener. The cut with Christopher Cross is reminiscent of the Arthur theme. And Mindi Abair seems to be everywhere these days! Her collaboration with Peter White on "Are You Mine" is terrific. Of course, all the other collaborators are superb; Brian Culbertson, Paul Brown, etc. A must buy for any Peter White fan!
