4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Intro To The Rising Smoke From The West, May 14, 2003

This review is from: La Confidential Presents: Knoc-Turn'Al (Mini) 1 (Audio CD)
Knoc-Turn'al is the newest big thing from the wast he is helping it gain it's once formadibal position atop the rap game back. Dr. Dre prodege but doesn't need dre to make him carry an album. He kept it short & tight and got a couple pf hot singles and nice tunes oout of it. I'll just mention the high lights

Knoc ft/Missy & Dr.Dre - Nice beat by Dr.Dre this was to be Knoc's single from his full album that got pushed back but alright. Missy does a nice hook but Dre really doesn't do much but drop a pretty short line or two. Knoc uses thsi song to really just showcase him self with a nice hit.

Str8 West Coast (Remix) ft/ Warren G, Nate Dogg, Shade Sheist & Xzibit - Great west coast anthem. This was originally on The Wash soundtrack in it's original version teh same good west coast beat is employed but the added guests spice things up a bit. My only disappointment is that Warren doesn't drop a new verse and i've been waiting awhile to hear something from him again.

Muzik - The second single has a nice powerful guitar riff beat. It was also used on a soundtrack. Knoc comes up with another catchy totally Knoc-Turn'al that sort of sets him apart.

Let's All Roll - ft/ Time Bomb, Jayo Felony, Butch Cassidy, & Slip Capone - This one is a nice rolling posse cut. Jayo & Time Bomb are my personal fav's on this song but slip & knoc both drop tight rhymes. What makes this track really nice is Butch on the hook, he is another on that will help bring the west back and he is already gaining some exposure.

L.A. Night & Day - This is a very trippy laid back smoked out track. Knoc does a pretty damn catchy verse and to make things even more impressive he is the one who produced the great beat. Real nice to ride out with on a saturday night or to chill, sit back & schmoke a phatty to.

all in all a nice sample of what Knoc has to offer and good signs comming from teh left coast once again.

I wasn't gonna buy this album because it was an EP. I saw he had the tight song wit missy and a lot of West Coast artist appearances, so I picked it up. Muzik is somethin' different. The song is produced by one of my favoirtes, Kanye West. "Str8 West Coast (Remix) is off the chain and so is "Let's All Roll." Knoc's got tight flow. It's different from everyone eles. You don't know if he's singing or rappin'. Can't wait for the full length album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality EP from Knoc-Turn'al, October 25, 2004

This review is from: La Confidential Presents: Knoc-Turn'Al (Mini) 1 (Audio CD)
The 6'4" Long Beach native delivers a 6 song, 24 minute long-awaited EP debut released by his own L.A. Confidential. Although I'd have liked to see it have more songs the ones that are on here a good but it does feature a lot of people but you can still see the Knoc's writing/rapping/and singing talent on the album. Prodction is good, Dr. Dre does 2 songs, Kanye West, Fred Wreck, Budda, and LA Confidential all do 1 song. I'd definatly recommend buying a copy and it should be rather cheap since it doesn't have much material.

#1 - 8.5 (f/ Missy & dr. Dre)
#2 - 9.5 (song about what music means to him)
#3 - 9.5 (f/ Warren G, Nate Dogg, Shade Sheist, & Xzibit)
#4 - 8.5 (f/ Jayo Felony, Slip Capone, Timebomb, & Butch Cassidy)
#5 - 6.5
#6 - 7 (f/ Slip Capone & Too $hort)

5.0 out of 5 stars Da SHIZNIT, August 8, 2002
This review is from: La Confidential Presents: Knoc-Turn'Al (Mini) 1 (Audio CD)
Knoc's first album is da bomb man! I was a bit put off at first with it only havin eight tracks but I decided to buy it and man was I happy. I listened to it about five times the first day an its been in my stereo everyday I jus cant get enoughof it. Its got everything you want from a rap cd It can be Hard and Smoothe and Knoc has a style which he can shift to suite either. He also has some of the best rappers out of da west Xzibit Dre Nate Dog an Warren G. Sure its only got six tracks but der all class and more than worth the money. If his next full length is any near as good as this then Knocs gonna definately be the wests new secret weapon. So go an check out this cd before ya pop lovin little sis starts to play it because hes no 1 IN THE CHARTS

the best advice;
Too many songs, weak rhymes that's mad long; make it brief, half short and twice strong

and thats whats knocs done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, August 2, 2002

I like this album because even though it's short, it's a very good album. It's better for an album to have less songs, but having a better quality, then having an album with 19 tracks and 18 of those will be garbage. Knoc first appeared on Dre's 2001 on couple of tracks, but I didn't think he would explode like this. He also appeared on "The Wash" soundtrack. Sources tell me that he is in the lab working with Dre on another album that will be out shortly. 5 out of these 6 songs are crazy hits. It might not sell as many as he hopes but it is still worth it. Believe me, it's worth it. I just like seeing the west back on top again and it's young cats like knoc who will bring it up. By following Snoop's and Dre's footsteps.
