Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Meet the demand, take the challenge...become a CISCO router administrator. These days, just about anyone--programmers, accountants, managers, and others--can "accidentally" become a network administrator, and have the responsibility of router maintenance fall right in their laps. Whether this describes you, or if you just want to get a better handle on configuring routers and designing network, then Configuring Cisco Routers for ISDN is your kind of book.

This heavy-duty resource--perfect as a daily on-the-job reference or as a supplement to related Cisco courses--shows network administrators all the ins and outs of how to install, troubleshoot, and solve real-world configuration problems. Featuring specific cases of Cisco router connections and detailed descriptions of real products, it's expressly designed to let you quickly set up network connections without hours and hours of training. You'll also be able to conveniently download actual router configurations from the author's own web site.

Anyway you look at it, when it comes to Cisco routers, this hands-on guide puts you totally in charge, giving you: advanced configurations (dynamic routing protocols, logging router events); the procedure for establishing a router as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol); a complete set of basic skills for data networking, including how to set up and troubleshoot basic data connections, including leased line connections like T1, 56K, and Frame Relay, as well as dial-up connections like modems and ISDN.

1.0 out of 5 stars Contents are totally out of your expectation of this title., February 13, 1999
This review is from: Configuring Cisco Routers for ISDN (Paperback)
This book is not worth anything, other than give you a wrong expectation of this book title, I thought that this book is giving you some ideas of ISDN connectivity configuration on Cisco routers, but it is NOT, a very mere knowledge of such, this book gives you nothing about ISDN <> Cisco Routers, DO NOT buy it, the book title does not live up with its contents.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, easy to follow guide to Cisco routers., February 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Configuring Cisco Routers for ISDN (Paperback)
As a Technical Editor for Seagate Software I am responsible for creating documentation that is usable by the novice but contains the details needed by the advanced administrator. This book easily meets those requirements. I read through subjects that I was familiar with to subjects that were new to me without any difficulty. It also includes several detailed Appendixes including one specifically on ISDN that I found very informative. Configuring Cisco Routers for Isdn is excellent reading and a great addition to the reference bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very comprehensive introduction!, December 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Configuring Cisco Routers for ISDN (Paperback)
This book starts out with an introductory chapter on Cisco and its progression into one of the largest networking companies, a very interesting chapter.

The book continues with a gentle introduction into the use of Cisco Routers and internetworking routers with ISDN.

Overall an interesting and comprehensive book for the network administrator who is assigned the task of internetworking Cisco Routers with ISDN!
