Product Description

This is the only book that will teach system administrators how to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Symantec Enterprise Edition in an enterprise network. The book will reflect Symantec's philosophy of "Centralized Antivirus Management." For the same reasons that Symantec bundled together these previously separate products, the book will provide system administrators with a holistic approach to defending their networks from malicious viruses. This book will also serve as a Study Guide for those pursuing Symantec Product Specialist Certifications.

Configuring Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise Edition contains step-by-step instructions on how to Design, implement and leverage the Symantec Suite of products in the enterprise.

Ø First book published on market leading product and fast-growing certification. Despite the popularity of Symantec's products and Symantec Product Specialist certifications, there are no other books published or announced.
Ø Less expensive substitute for costly on-sight training. Symantec offers week-long courses on this same product for approximately $2,500. This book covers essentially the same content at a fraction of the price, and will be an attractive alternative for network engineers and administrators.
Ø Free practice exam from solutions@syngress.com. Syngress will offer a free Symantec Product Specialist Certification practice exam from syngress.com. Comparable exams are priced from $39.95 to $59.95.

3.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Title, October 15, 2003
By A Customer
This book is mis-titled. It is 99% about Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition (NAVCE) 7.6, NOT the current Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (SAVCE) 8.x. It only mentions a few of the many differences between the two products (usually in footnotes and sidebars). The cover prominently displays a "Free 1-year Upgrade" via the syngress.com website. As of this writing there are no upgrades available. SAVCE 8.x has been out for over a year now. I would expect to be able to download upgrades that cover SAVCE. Further, while lacking in coverage of SAVCE, the book instead goes off-topic and delves into setting-up and configuring your DNS servers and backup solution.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy if you are going to use this for SAVCE 8!, May 4, 2004
By A Customer
There is next to nothing in this book about SAVCE 8.x. It may be a fine resource for NAVCE 7.6, but it's not at all as it is advertised. I agree with the previous reviewer who had this opinion. (I don't usually write reviews, but this book upset me.)

5.0 out of 5 stars A useful guide for an under-documented product., June 12, 2003
By A Customer
This is the first title I've seen that collects everything you need to know about Symantec Anti-virus into one organized place. The various chapters clarify information that is scattered throughout the online documentation and various mailing lists and discussion groups, and expands on those topics even further. The exercises provide wonderful step-by-step guides to perform the real-world tasks that you'll perform when installing and configuring Symantec Anti-virus on a corporate network.
