5.0 out of 5 stars The Best War Game Ever
Conflict: Vietnam is a really good game. The guy who said the 1st Air Cav mission is immpossibe to beat and that you need luck is wrong. I beat the 1st Air Cav mission over 5 times on normal. You need to put 2 guys in the bunkers that are higher than the others( The ones that have the stairs) so that the enemy cant swarm in trough that bunker that easy and put one guy...

2.0 out of 5 stars Think and Don't Think
This game is a mix of well thought out missions and some that defy military tactics/strategy; even common sense(...1st Air Cav and Air Mobile)... when you can hole-up in a bunker(s) and fight off swarms of enemy = it would only take a few lobbed gernades to wipe everyone out OR on sneaky enemy to wrist-flick one in sideways ... when you're in a Huey and you're not able to...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best War Game Ever, November 17, 2004
This review is from: Conflict: Vietnam (CD-ROM)
Conflict: Vietnam is a really good game. The guy who said the 1st Air Cav mission is immpossibe to beat and that you need luck is wrong. I beat the 1st Air Cav mission over 5 times on normal. You need to put 2 guys in the bunkers that are higher than the others( The ones that have the stairs) so that the enemy cant swarm in trough that bunker that easy and put one guy lying in prone possition looking down the stairs and one guy kneeling looking at the clearing where the enemy are coming from. Every time one of your guys get hit send a guy over to heal him. The kneeling and lying in prone help because when a mortor hits you possition it doesnt hurt your guys that much. Anyway theres 14 long missions to try and over 40 weapons. The grafics are really good. The controls are the same as Conflict: Desert Storm 1 and 2 but now you tell the guys in your squad to shield someone , pick up stuff and to heal people that are hurt. This game is hard though so if you not good at shooting games you probably wont get past the 4th mission. The vehicles in the game are alot better than the ones in Conflict: Desert Storm 1 and 2. You can ride in a jeep, tank or a little armored thing. In the Charlies Point mission you can shoot from a river boat but you cant drive the river boat and in the mission Air Mobile you can shoot from a helicopter. In conflict vietnam you can only carry 1 light gun, 1 heavy weapon, a pistol, a knife, mines and all the different types of granades you want. The hardest mission is probably Russuian Rullet. In it you have to silently escape from a POW camp. You kill your enemys by using a crosbow or stabbing them with a knife. After you escape the POW camp you have to ride away in a jeep. The storyline in this game is very good. If you like war games you should deffinetly get this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOOOVED IT!, June 30, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Conflict: Vietnam (CD-ROM)
This game is a very accurate depiction of 'Nam in '68 (although I've never participated in the war, let alone born around the time. Let me rephrase it to "very believable").

You control 4 soldiers: the team leader (Staff Sgt. Frank Wier), a sniper (Corporal Bruce Lesh), a heavy machine gunner (Corporal Will Shafer) and "the new guy"/medic (Pvt. Harold Kahler, also the main character in the story). Throughout the game, you will gain deep feelings for these 4 characters.

Game features:

Graphics: Not as bad as the press would have you believe. Character models are done well (the faces need a little polishing up, though) and the jungle environments are spooky (in a way that actually make you feel you are actually there). 8.9/10

Controls: A little bit out of the ordinary. But, there is a key remapping option. I can understand the frustration of getting used to the defaults, but that's why I encourage you to play the demo about 10 times before you buy it. 7.3/10

Sound/Music: Great music score, the weapon sounds are decent but some of them seem a bit underpowered in the sound department. Some famous rock songs featured in that time period, but I would like to have more. The best part is the voice acting that matches the characters very well. 9.2/10

Story: Very well written! The story haunts in my sleep! The cutscenes in the game really move the story along and is a very welcoming sight. 9.8/10

Presentation: Well crafted and polished 9.5/10

AI: I've seen better, they're all a bit dumb but great shots! 6.8/10

Difficulty: Sometimes frustrating (even on "Easy" mode). The "two save for each mission" save system is a pain! The levels don't always go from easy to hard and level lengths vary. 6.5/10

Overall gameplay: It won't let you go until the last bullet is fired! 9.5/10

Atmosphere: The best in any war shooter! 10/10

Lasting appeal: It was great while it lasted for the 1st time playing it, but I'm just glad to be out of Vietcong territory (in other words: this game will more thn likely be catching dust on my shelf). 4.7/10

Conflict: Vietnam is possibly the best Vietnam war shooter out there! Do I recommend it to everyone. No, only those of you who are really looking for a good war game and those of you that are crack shots with the mouse! It is a solid, above-average game that will haunt you until you beat it!

This game isn't about a bunch of special ops war aces who can run through an enemy compound and kill everyone in sight and come out unharmed (a.k.a. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, the WORST war shooter ever invented). No, it's about 4 soldiers with little to no actual war experience who just want to see another light of day and to escape the lush but deadly jungles of Vietnam. The game gives you a sentimental feel for the 4 heroes as well as a heavy pride in your country (if you're living in the U.S.A.)

You can get this game for a bargain price (I got mine right off of here for 7.99 + S&H). To me, it was worth every penny of the price!

Game total score: 9.1/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good, January 4, 2011

Very entertaining, to the point of being addictive--a true sign of a great game. The best and most difficult shooter I have played. The scenarios are different enough to really make each interesting. One can really appreciate the variety of weapons, how each has its particular strength and weakness, and how each plays a role in the 4 man fire team. The music is great, the scenery enchanting. I would recommend using the cheats. Dialogue is realistic except for 2 errors--a reference to type C Hepatitis (known as non A, non B Hepatitis in that era) and a remark "the 101st ARE a couple of clicks up the road." The latter belies the game's British origins. On the whole, however, it is amazing that they got so much right about America's war.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's like a slightly worse version of Vietcong, January 9, 2010

In terms of atmosphere and realistic-feeling gameplay Vietcong did everything they did in this game slightly better. This particular game has a few elements Vietcong didn't have and which arguably could have had in order to be a better game, like characters building skills through experience. I personally am a huge sucker for Vietnam War games so I was very happy to play it and would recommend it for any Vietnam War game fans. Probably most people would just grumble and say the game sucks though if they get distracted by the fact the gameplay is mediocre at best.

This was a rather tough one to get through, and a lot of it seemed repetitive, but it was fun, and I plan to play it again some day.

I got a good price on the game when I bought it in 2006. I was surprised by how good the graphics were. The game play is really good as well. It is not a typical shoot 'em up game. You have to sneak around and move slowly. The sounds are very good as well. I still have fun replaying this game. No foul language, and the graphic violence is kept to a minimum. I recommend this game if you like this genre. Enjoy!
