This cd is absolutely amazing. It is hard to find these songs anywhere else. Especially Chant Down Babylon and my favorite Mix up, Mix up. I would recommend this cd to any Bob Marley fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bob gone. Spirit still strong, February 5, 2001
This review is from: Confrontation (Audio CD)
This is simply the first of many posthumous collections of Bobs music. It is also one of the best of these later albums. Maybe that's not so surprising since many of the songs that were compiled here by Island Music were from some of the more creative and productive recording sessions of the Wailers. A lot of the songs are from 1978-79 and are out-takes, and unused recordings from sessions that produced Survival and Uprising. Bob had always intended to produce an album entitled Confrontation to complete a trilogy of these albums. Whether Confrontation emerged as he had envisaged, we will never know. Doesn't matter now and the end result is good music anyway. 'Blackman redemption' and 'Rastaman Live up' were singles that had been released previously in Jamaica. Redone here. The big hit was 'Buffalo Soldier' but 'Chant Down Babylon', 'Jump Nyabinghi','Mix up Mix up', 'Blackman Redemption' and 'Rastaman Live up' are all very worthwhile tracks. The whole album has a light, optimistic sound and emphasizes Bob's spiritual beliefs and faith in Ras Tafari, these six songs saying it best. There are a couple of very interesting and unique things here also. I don't know of any other Marley tune with profanity in the lyrics, but listen good to the verse on 'Mix up Mix up' where Bob sings 'I still remain, I know I still, I will'. The next lines go 'But through your fu..... respect/And through your false pride/Someone wanna take Jah children for a ride' The other unique item is an entire song - 'I know'. No other Marley song, before or since ever sounded like this. The instrumental arrangement, keyboards, vocal harmonies and percussion are all pure R&B. You recognize reggae only through references to Jah. Different all right and and shows the versatility of the man.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is excellent, September 25, 1998

It was Bob Marley's motive to educate the fools who believe that the bablyon system benefits all. He draws some excellent conclusions in some songs (like Buffalo Soldier, and Mix Up, Mix Up) to further expose the evil of babylon. This reggae effort is excellent, and for anyone who likes reggae, this is a must!!!
