3.0 out of 5 stars Authors make their point but leave doubts
If you have watched or read Benny Hinn and have doubts about his integrity and the validity of his ministry, this book will buttress your doubts and provide amble reasons to turn Hinn off your tv. A reasonable Christian really doesn't need anymore justification to disregard Hinn and his pleas to viewers. Yet, like me you may still wonder if the "anointing" he has is for...

This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
James 3:1 says "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgement" (New King James Version). In this book, Benny Hinn goes "under the microscope", so to speak, as his words and deeds are analyzed and found wanting. That such a prominent figure should undergo such scrutiny should not be surprising, according to the above-quoted scripture, nor should it cause condemnation and outrage on the part of his "fans". Every follower of Benny Hinn, or indeed, the follower of any pop-religious icon should read this book. The evidence presented is documented and verifiable. But, more importantly, it points out sound Biblical interpretive principals, something many people are unaware of nowadays when so many interpret Scripture by what they think God tells them it means (which is usually dependent on their religious preconditioning). Especially informative to me is the chapter concerning Hinn's teaching on the Blood, and how it is similar to others who have associated almost magical powers to a literal red fluid. Appendix A, written by someone who visited Hinn's church in Orlando, is very revealing. To have a church service that is patrolled by security guards who have use Gestapo-like tactics on whoever appears not to be a Hinn-worshiper shows paranoia in the Hinn camp, not exactly an indication of great "faith".

I had to downgrade this book a little because, on some issues, it treads and retreads the same ground, which is tantamount to beating a dead horse. Of course, the fact that this book is a collection of articles contributes to that, but it could have used tighter editing.

It is somewhat disturbing to me to see reviews written on this book by people who have not even read it. The opinions of these people should count for nothing, whether they gave it one star or five (I thought it was ironic that one person who did not read the book blasted it in his "review" and gave it five stars!) I challenge everyone who has pre-condemned this book to read it. These authors are not making up this information. Benny Hinn actually said this stuff, and as a prominent figure in popular religion today, his words and his life lend themselves to scrutiny. Benny Hinn is a product of the Christian celebrity scene of today, which shows you how spiritually bankrupt that scene is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put up or shut up, December 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
Benny Hinn fans will obviously hate this book. Reviewer Jeff DelaCruz made a few charges against Fischer and Goedelman, none of which he substantiated. And apparently, the 12/11/99 reviewer from California didn't even read the book.

On the opposite side, Fischer and Goedelman substantiate and document the quotes they supply in this book -- using Hinn's own programs, books, and tapes. Yes, Hinn did say "There's nine of them" in the Trinity. Yes, Hinn did threaten the well-being of his critics, as if "God" was his leg-breaking thug. Yes, Hinn did claim to feel the "anointing" from the tombs of two of his icons. Yes, Hinn did say that the parted Red Sea really froze, and that the Egyptians were crushed by the falling ice. Yes, Hinn did say that the NT does not record the name of either of the two disciples who were on the road to Emmaus because God dishonored them for not asking Jesus who He was. Yes, Hinn did threaten a particular critic's little children with disasterous suffering. Yes, Hinn did prophesy that the homosexual community in America would perish by fire out of heaven in 1994 or 1995, no later than that. Yes, Hinn did prophesy that a great earthquake would destroy much of the east coast during the 1990s. Yes, Hinn did prophesy that Fidel Castro would die during the 1990s. Yes, Hinn did speak for the Holy Spirit and say that Eve was originally created to give birth out of her side, but sin transformed her anatomy. Yes, Hinn did tell his followers that, "You are God. Ye are gods." Yes, Hinn did teach that Jesus gave up his divinity at some point. Yes, Hinn did say that Jesus went to hell to suffer for our atonement.

If you believe that such teachings, revelations, and prophecies are the "work of the Lord," then it is the rest of us who should grind our teeth. I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg. Nevertheless, the authors of this book have. You will be frightfully amazed.

When DelaCruz writes a book demonstrating that Fischer and Goedelman took every Hinn quote out of context -- misrepresenting what Hinn really teaches -- I'll buy it, read it, and review it too. Problem is, DelaCruz can't prove his false argument. He only wishes it so. Just think for a moment: Fischer and Goedelman claim to have written this book merely to sound the alarm about an unhealthy ministry that teaches unhealthy doctrine. Why O Why would they waste their time twisting gazillions of quotes out of context in order to falsely make Hinn seemingly communicate the heretical opposite of what he "really" teaches? Don't you think the authors realize that Hinn has such loyal followers? Knowing this high degree of loyalty, why would the authors document the sources of the quotes if it is so easy to demonstrate their allegedly excessive misrepresentations? Furthermore, if Hinn "really" teaches sound doctrine rather than the off-the-cuff "Revelation Knowledge," then you would need to say that Fischer and Goedelman have -- via excessive misrepresentation and outright lying -- created a different Hinn out of thin air just to spend these 200 hundred pages bashing a figment of their imagination, knowing all the while that he really isn't the false teacher that they have made him out to be. If you Hinn fans can still say that such is truly the case, put up or shut up. Whining to protect your icon won't suffice.

5.0 out of 5 stars "send me your money....", October 8, 2005
By
metalgoddess "metalgoddess3" (North Bay, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I often find myself tempted to throw 'send me your money' by suicidal tendencies in my cd player whenever Hinn, or any other televangelist of his nature is mentioned.
I applaud these two Christian ministers for digging around and finding the dirt that is Hinn.
And we wonder why Hinn is now being investigated by the IRS for tax evasion???? I've got a few theories, but let's start with Hinn preying on the minds of the innocent hopeful, making them pay insurmountable amounts of money to an outright hoax who claims to heal. If he genuinely had the power of Christ to heal then why the hell is he making such a ridiculously scandalous profit from it? Innocent people are buying into his garbage every day in the hopes that there is some healing for their diseases. Not that miracles cannot happen mind you... they're just not being performed by Hinn!
Hinn is a HOAX and he's laughing all the way to the bank knowing it. If this sentence suprises you then you need to read this book NOW!!!!

This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
An invaluable source of witnessing to those who are "Benny" or other "Hinn"-wise deceived. Buy two copies and then the next time someone asks you, "What do you think of Benny Hinn,?" merely hand them this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hinndrance to Christianity, December 2, 2002
By
Jerry Dodson (Melbourne, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
This book is a great place to start when introducing others to the various errors, lies, and abuses perpetrated by Benny Hinn. While the information here is somewhat dated, Benny goes on with the same cycle of teaching error, being confronted, retracting the error, and then starting the whole thing over again. And in keeping with the law of diminishing returns, his claims have been getting more outlandish. Remember when he said that Jesus was going to start appearing visibly in his meetings? He had better pray that that doesn't happen, because if Jesus showed up, it would be in judgment, and things would get ugly fast.

One observation of the reviews on this site: the ones by supporters of Benny Hinndrance seem to be plagued by atrocious grammar, misspellings and sentence fragments. It seems that those supporting Benny are not very educated, and I am sure that is the way he likes it. The emperor can be buck naked if no one notices...

5.0 out of 5 stars just read this book, April 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
I am 19 years old and am homeschooled. I just read this book as part of my schoolwork. After reading this book I wonder if this man is not intentionally deceiving people. I don't know this for sure, but I think it's possible. He totally contradicts himself. On one hand he says that he will stop promoting the prosperity gospel, then on another hand he goes right back to preaching it. Then there's the issue of his claim that his father was the mayor of Israel. There is no record of this, and it is believed that he only said it to idolize his hero Kathryn Kuhlman. People have been seriously injured or even killed at Hinn's healing crusades. He also made a number of false prophecies about the 1990's, none of which came to pass. One thing he does that astonishes me the most is when he visits the grave of Kathryn Kuhlman and claims to get an anointing from the grave. This is called necromancy and the Bible strictly condemns this. Hinn is also very harsh towards his critics. Once he said that he wished he could kill anybody that comes against him. He wanted to find a verse in the Bible that would allow him to do this. However, the Bible condemns murder, and if Benny Hinn is looking in the King James Bible for a verse that justifies murder, he is wasting his time. He wishes God would give him a "Holy Ghost machine gun" so he can blow people away. The Bible tells us to forgive our enemies, not threaten them or kill them. Godly people who are truly doing the will of God in exposing false teachers don't talk this way about other people. But yet false prophets spirt out the worst of critisms for people who put them down. It amazes me that Benny Hinn has as many followers as he does. He must have thousands upon thousands of followers. I would recommend that any follower of Benny Hinn who comes across this book reads it carefully and takes to heart what it says. This book not only condemns Benny Hinn, but it condemns the Word-Faith movement as a whole. I hope people who are in bondage to the Word-Faith movement read this book and other books, such as "The Seduction Of Christianity" by Dave Hunt, "Charismatic Chaos" by John F. MacArthur, among others. We are living in critical days, and the Apostasy is the greatest sign of the End Times. Maybe more prophecy teachers should talk about the Apostasy during their programs. It really is the greatest sign of the times that there is. Me and my parents were recently in bondage to the Word-Faith movement, but we saw the light and feel as though we've been set free from something. We feel as though a burden has been lifted from us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Benny's a fake; this book is for real, October 5, 2005
By
T-Dogg (Central Florida) - See all my reviews
From page 120 of "The Confusing World of Benny Hinn"...
the story of an 85-year-old woman who died from an injury as a result of someone falling on her after Benny Hinn "slayed" them in the spirit...

"The ushers quickly pulled her off the stage and sat in a pew where she cried out in pain for 20 minutes. She later died from complications related to the injury. The woman's family alleged the ushers refused to call an ambulance because an ambulance would not look good at a miracle service. A lawsuit was settled out of court...."

That should simply shame any of Benny Hinn's followers away from the pathological liar/healing "minister.

This book is great, and has an index by subject of any of your favorite Benny Hinn moments.

...Where's the Jesus took on the nature of Satan teaching? The index says to the right of topic "Spiritual death of Jesus,... 20-21, 30, 83, 227, 240.

...Where's the prophecy that Fidel Castro will die in the 90's? Under Castro, Fidel, ... 203.

The wacked-out comments from his wife Susanne about the enema up the rear... Holy Ghost enema.... 111.

This is a great book on a false teacher, which includes Biblical teachings to confront and expose Benny Hinn and his cronies.

Unfortunately, no Benny Hinn fan is going to even touch this book. One might be better off using the video entitled "The Many Faces of Benny Hinn."

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Unfortunately, many people will not heed the warnings of this, one of the finest works ever on a false teacher.

But as David Hunt says in the forward, this book may save lives physically and spiritually.

For the most part this book is a technical inspection of the teachings of Benny Hinn. It is not an 'expose' and it does not delve into the business dealings of Benny Hinn's enterprises or speculate about his personal motivations. It does document many of his lies, his flamboyant persona, and his erroneous teachings from a theological perspective. The material is really a collection of articles, consequently, as noted in other reviews, much of the material comes up multiple times.

This work has a limited focus and does an admirable job in tackling the subject.

Can you handle the truth? Thank God these men wrote this book. This book gives a simple but thorough biographical look at the Charismatic "Healer".It documents his history, false prophecies, and proves Benny Hinn is not what he claims. If anyone is not prompted to question Hinn's ministry after reading these facts, they do not want to see the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wake Up To The Church!, May 7, 2004
This review is from: The Confusing World of Benny Hinn (Paperback)
Benny Hinn is simply the product of a perverted church age. This books contents are more than a matter of analysis or discernment of one man's motives intents or integrity. Perhaps they should serve to raise serious questions to those who are proclaimed followers of Christ that there exists a much larger and dangerous issue.

In the past 50 years we have seen the creation of a Christian sub-culture that has given rise to so called "Mega Churches" and "Superstar Preachers" whose popularity and fan-fare rival any secular performer. The revivals of yesterday are now huge multi-media events that look and feel more like being in a rock concert that a Spiritual meeting. The freedom of expression of worship that was once the grounds for Spiritual renewal ahs been morphed into carefully orchestrated and controlled visual and audio enhanced experiences. Sadly-In this Spiritual vacumn many of these "Men and Women of God" even those who begin in humility and having a true vision toward reaching the "Lost" with the message of hope and redemption of Christ have in reality become exalted above the God they supposedly represent.

Television evangelists speak of the humble carpenter who had no place which to lay his head while they live opulent debased lifestyles of riches and luxury which are directly related to the Non-Profit dollars there so called "ministries" bring in.

The rules are quite simple. One may live in a Million dollar mansion as long as one gives rememberance to the homeless.
One may eat at the finest 5 star restaurants as long as one gives rememberance to the hungry. One may sleep in luxury Hotel rooms that cost 1,000.00 dollars a night as long a one opens his barn to the wayfarer. $ 5,000 dollar suits -$100,000 Cars-and $10,000 Rolex watches seem to be simply the reward of service to the gospel.

The Church has gone the way of the world when the crowds throng to the personality of an orator and stadiums are "Sold-out" by the right name on the marquee. Whether Hinn is an outright fake or flake or simply an "anointed" servant who is in serious need of guidance can be debated till Hell freezes over. That there exists total charletans and snake oil salesman in this sect of religious fervor is an understatement.

The real concern should be why those who have started with the right heart are so quickly and totally turned to become another thing entirely.
My advice to all is keep an open mind take no offense but to carefully consider the documented facts presented and pray for the abilty to discern right from wrong.

This coming from a born again Christian who has been in active Ministry for 15 years believes in miracles -Healing -the need for demonic deliverance and the redemption through the cross mind you.

Time to pull your head out the sand Church and wake up!!
