5.0 out of 5 stars Love Battery's swan song high point of their career, June 5, 2003

These guys are sorely missed. Although they hailed from Seattle, and get lumped in with the grunge scene, they clearly had a unique sound never replicated by any other band of the period. Mind-tweaking, slide guitar-filled, psychedelic, beatnik-tinged freak-outs with witty, surreal, free form lyrics. Easily one of the best and most under-rated bands to come out of Seattle. And "Confusion Au Go Go" is clearly their finest hour. Rougher around the edges and less radio-friendly than "Far Gone" or "Straight Freak Ticket", its raw production and punkier fury are tempered by some of their strongest and most melodic material ever. Ron Nine's lyrics have never been better, nor more discernible. Only negative here would be the spotty production. Otherwise, talk about ending on a high note. Hopefully some day they'll get their due. Sure wished I'd seen 'em live.

My new favorite album. Wild psychedelic riffs with hints of Nirvana and the Stones. Unbelievable percussion.

This is my new favorite album. A bouquet of musical color, with hints of various styles like the Stones. Out of this world drums and percussion by Dan Peters, Mike Musberger, and Jason Finn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Battery Charging!, May 31, 2000
This review is from: Confusion Au Go Go (Audio CD)
I only became a rabid fan of Love Battery about two years ago. I was exposed to a short clip of them performing the song Right Between the Eyes while watching the Seattle Music Documentary "Hype" That short snipit of that song inspired me to go out and seek my first L.B. CD purchase which was "Straight Freak Ticket". I was floored! I soon purchased my next L.B. CD which was Dayglo. I was stunned! I just bought my third L.B. CD "Confusion A Go Go" I was Blown Away! I only have two other artist in my extensive music library that have three great CD's. And I havn't even got all of Love Battery's yet!

4.0 out of 5 stars One step forward and One step back, September 5, 1999
This review is from: Confusion Au Go Go (Audio CD)
I usually listen to a work, performance, or band at least 3 times before I form an opinion. I listened to "Confusion" 5 times before writing this review. This album sounds more like a better version of older material (a la Between The Eyes or Dayglo). What's missing in this album is the musical execution that was present on both Far Gone and Straight Freak Ticket (still their best release to date). The musical layering is why Straight Freak Ticket was so enjoyable. Far Gone had great melodies so there was no need for lots of harmonies.

I give this album a 4 star rating because I like Love Battery. If you want to buy a Love Battery album buy this one, but also buy Far Gone and Straight Freak Ticket (The melodies are a bit more mature and the lyrics are at their creative peak).

Love Battery has gone forward with their careers after Atlas Records gave up on them, but I want to hear more songs like Rust Belt,Confusion, Monkey Brain, and Angel Head.

4.0 out of 5 stars I've only heard "colorblind", August 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Confusion Au Go Go (Audio CD)
Colorblind was on a benifit album. The version I heard on this disk sounds like it might be different but I haven't heard the song since 96. This band is definitley underappreciated. I'm buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Battery continues with its incredible psychedelic rock, June 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Confusion Au Go Go (Audio CD)
Love Battery, a band that slipped through the cracks of the hype of the Pacific Northwest earlier this decade still survive. Perhaps causing them to continue to develop without ever collapsing under the weight of other bands and their overwhelming successes. Confusion Au Go Go, their fifth disc, is extremely solid all the way through. Like their previous, and best disc, Straight Freak Ticket, Love Battery musically blend psychodelic twisting slide guitar, with off-kilter rock beats. There is always something interesting and unusual about Ron Nine's lyrics and voice. The best songs are the title track, Monkey Brain and Hollow Body. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please Don't Go Away, September 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Confusion Au Go Go (Audio CD)
Ever since Far Gone I've been a fan of these guys. I miss the thunderous drums that Jason added to the arrangements, but the music is still fantastic. Ron's lyrics are always intriguing. I hope these guys don't give it up any time soon. It seems like just when a band has 3 great albums in a row they give up. I predict their next album will feature Jason prominently.
