Insight that changed my life, April 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Conjugial Love: Delights of Wisdom Relating to Conjugal Love Followed by Pleasures of Insanity Relating to Licentious Love (Hardcover)
This is a hard book to start into because the premises the author asks you to accept are so enormous. But if you are willing to give it a shot it is well worth the time. Swedenborg details a view of marriage that recognizes differences between men and women -- similar in many ways to John Gray's "Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus" -- without any sense of one being superior to the other. But while Gray focuses on psychology, Swedenborg focuses on the spiritual nature of men, women and marriage. This adds much more depth and meaningful application than I got from Gray's book. He is a Christian writer, but not like any other Christian I've ever run across. I said at the beginning that it changed my life. That's the bottom line. No book or person has contributed as much to my marriage as this one. Every person I've lent it to (and who was willing to actually apply what is said!) has said the same thing.
