5.0 out of 5 stars What a great invention!
I do in home consultations which requires that I walk around taking detailed notes. This has made my life so much easier. It has literally cut my consult time in half. It is very comfortable. The only thing to take note of is that the foam strip at the bottom is only attached with one square of velcro; which makes it a bit flimsy. I chose to remove it and it is still...

I read other reviews and they mentioned the word, "flimsy." This was definitely an understatement! The board, if we can even call it that, is made out of a extremely thin piece of flexible plastic. It bowed so badly, that I couldn't even type, and it felt as if the laptop would fall out. There is also a velcro-tipped strap that holds the computer from falling forward, and it runs from one shoulder strap over to the other strap. One end of the strap is sewned onto the left strap, but it does not afix to the right strap. To attach it to the second strap you have to keep wrapping it around the strap until it can attach back to itself. This means that the velcro strap would slide up or down the shoulder strap, which in turn, ceased from being useful as any type of security to the laptop.

I purchased a thin piece of plyboard, and cut it to fit between the eye bolts and rings on the plastic board. I sanded and painted it black, then secured it to the bottom of the plastic board with heavy duty velcro, and it now works great. The security straps still need some work, but I'll figure it out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seeeemed like a good idea but..., September 24, 2008
This review is from: Connect-A-Desk Laptop Holder (Electronics)
I saw a clip for this on Woot! (i love woot) and had to buy one. Well, I received it and all hell broke loose!!!

I followed all instructions and securely attached my Toshiba 13" laptop.

I work in the field and empty septic tanks. Well all of a sudden I have great suction going at the Glazer's house when I need to slightly lean over and pick yup my on off wrench.

You guessed it...my new laptop ploped right into the Glazer's spetic tank and sunk below the brown sludge that forms. I jumped in and searched but just could find my laptop. Finally after the tank was almost empty I found it. Screen was still lit up because it is one of those rugged model (thank my tush).

I was able to take it home, rinse it off and works to this day. Still smell like the Glazer's but at least I'm not out $3000.

As for the Connect-A-Desk...it is at the bottom of the Glazer's septic holding tank.

If you need any septic work please let me know.

Harold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comes in Handy!, December 13, 2007

This review is from: Connect-A-Desk Laptop Holder (Electronics)
What a great idea. I received one as a gift from a friend and now I can't live without it. I use my laptop a lot for work and I have to use it in the field all the time. This really makes it convenient for me. Before I was always having to find somewhere to sit my laptop down to enter data and do schematics. I can't tell you how many times I set my laptop down and left it somewhere or temporarily misplaced it. I don't have to worry about that any more.

The straps are surprisingly comfortable and it really seems to hold up well so far. I use it almost daily. I would recommend this to anyone who uses their laptop on the go.

I'm glad I bought this product, although it has significant limits.
First, ignore reviews that say the plastic is flimsy. This may have been true in earlier versions but the one I just bought is sturdy.
I use it to read standing up. I do this with my iPad and with books. Long hours of reading sitting down aren't good for my aging body.
The fact that it fits so close to the body and has straps to hold it in place can make it a challenge to set it up with books, laptops, etc that have different shapes and weights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says - but a bit flimsy, February 26, 2009
This review is from: Connect-A-Desk Laptop Holder (Electronics)
The product does what it says, but the materials are very flimsy. There is nothing to prevent your laptop from sliding off the tray.

Mine came with one of the connection clasps bent so it wouldn't close. Fortunately, I was able to straighten it with a pliers.

I use this with an ASUS mini, which weighs only 2 lbs.(9"), so it is comfortable. But I still think I will use a bungi cord, somehow to secure the computer in place. I tried using it with a 14" and 15" laptop, but the computer did not feel secure and the "desk" wobbled around too much.

All in all, it does make it possible to type with 2 hands while standing up and moving around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great., June 8, 2011
This review is from: Connect-A-Desk Laptop Holder (Electronics)
I just received the new 2011 Connect-A-Desk and I must say that's it's much improved over the older models. The platform is much thicker and the harness seems to more comfortable. I use a 12inch netbook and it works great with it. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Passed my bus vibration test!, June 10, 2010
This review is from: Connect-A-Desk Laptop Holder (Electronics)
I spend more than ten hours each week on a city bus commuting to my job in Detroit. The ride is long and our bad streets make it very bumpy. I teach online part-time and wanted to use my commuting time to communicate with students and grade electronic papers. The constant jolting of the bus made it difficult to do this. I purchased a Connect-A-Desk out of desperation. I am happy to report that it works like a charm. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to work during commuting.

Two thumbs up!
