Format: Paperback
"Connect" is by far the most practical book on youth ministry I've read. It's an easy read, offering you copious amounts of tips in discipling students one-on-one, as well as offering you the proper boundaries and safety measures to take. McKee has done a fantastic job identifying the different types of students you come in contact with on school campuses, neighborhoods, and church. He also gives you REALLY practical steps and advice as you try to reach different types of students. Very helpful! Highly recommend.

I read this book and liked what Jonathan had to say so much that I took all of my volunteers through it step by step. It made such an impact that 8 months later we invited Jonathan to come to our community to teach it to us in person!! A must for any size church, any size group, town or ministry!! It will reveal a ton about your ministry!! Very, very practical advice!!

I love the balance in this book. It balances practical tips with stories about the types of kids he is referring to. Some things are still not practical enough, but you get a good grasp of what he is arguing.

So many youth pastors make the mistake of thinking there are two kinds of kids, lost and saved. Well yeah, but there are shades of both. Probably the most helpful thing this book does is give an in depth breakdown of 6 different kinds of kids found in America today (3 of each). McKee's thoughts are not just limited to his own experiences; I've worked with these kids my whole career, though I never labeled them "No Way Kids" or "Looking for Ministry Kids." In addition to his helpful nomenclature, McKee offers practical strategies for turning No Way Kids into Looking for Ministry Kids. That's fabulous!
So if you know a youth pastor that looks at the world in terms that are far too simple, give them this book. It will help them reach ALL the teenagers in their community.

The principles in this book has helped me better understand the different kinds of young people. Applying these principles in our youth ministry, it has helped our church to be inter-generational where you'll see adults ministering to our youth and our youth in return ministers to our children. What a wonderful sight to see in our church!

I devoured this book in one sitting on an overseas flight. GREAT INFORMATION! I found myself highlighting most of the material in the book. Added bonuses include the author's FREE website and links to FREE training. I've used the traning videos with my volunteer staff to teach them the importance of investing in the lives of teenagers.
