Getting Connected With The Stereo MC's,
By
This review is from: Connected (Audio CD)
1992's "Connected" was the big album for Rob B & company, better known as the Stereo MC's. This deliriously catchy album has funk written all over it, with killer grooves & beats, and very cool singing & rapping from Rob. The head-bobbing hits "Connected" and "Step It Up" alone are worth the price of admission, but MAN, there are so many fly tracks on this album: "Ground Level," "All Night Long," "Playing With Fire," "Creation," and "The End," just to name some. When it comes to dance pop, there's nobody that comes close to the Stereo MC's in catchiness, intelligence and studio expertise. "Connected" will definitely fit the bill if you need music to cruise down the highway to, or to get down with your bad self at a mixer or in private. Party on, Stereo MC's!

Surprisingly good album!,

I bought this CD used several years ago just to get the song "Connected". I had no idea what a treat I was in for. This is one catchy collection of down-to-earth songs adeptly performed in a distinctive quasi-hip-hop style. It defies categorization. The music is not amazing -- it's just eminently listenable. I've played it many times while doing homework and studying, and it has yet to grow tiresome. Highly recommended!

The mainstay of my CD collection!,

I went to 8 different stores to find this cd, and it was worth every mile I traveled. It is a excelent compromise to hardcore rap, with great rythm and perfictly fitted lyrics. Out of a collection of 100's of cd's this is by far my favorite. It is a shame nobody can find it anymore.

From the OBJECTIVE reviewer...the perfect melting pot of rap and funk. It's impossible to skip over even one track on this CD.

I love the Stereo MC's because they provide me with what I feel is missing from most other Hip Hop & Hip Hop influenced Pop and that's good musical production, a variety of sounds and instruments, vocals & lyrics that don't rely on blatant swearing and mindless lyrics about "bitches and hoes", crime, drugs, etc...
I like all the tracks except 3, and the only thing I dont like about track 5 & 13 is the female vocals. My favourites are 1, 7 & 11. By the way, if you like these guys, you might also want to check out the Fun Lovin' Criminals.

This cd is the best dance cd out there. It doesn't get much credit than it should. This cd is a party starter. The rap by Rob B is the best rap. It is way better than all the other rap out there. It proves that you can rap and you don't have to add vulgur words to get your point across. Even the girls singing with Rob is excellent. The beats are great too. This cd puts me in a good mood. I also like the instrumental tracks. Great cd.

Just slightly ahead of their time,

Where are they now? This album was outstanding; probably their best! I guess I'll have to settle with Black Grape as the best party band from the UK until the MC's come back (which, I've heard, they will). Jamiraquai and Big Audio Dynamite are very good. But these mates were the REAL DEAL when it came to reviving the funky sounds of the 1970's with a contemporary hip hop twist.

Bring It Back!!!!,

This CD is one of the greatest of all time, in my opinion. The smooth vocals, groovin' tweak on hip bop, as well as the 90's-flavored lyrics, put this one right at the top. I just can't understand why it's gone out of circulation. It must be one of those "business things". I've tried to purchase it for over a year now. Please, please, someone, anyone -- bring it back 'cause my teenagers took my two copies!

The most outstanding party release of the 90's,

Relistening to this album from the early nineties, you realize that this album could have been released today, and even become a hit. The sound is still as fresh and groovy, and the record is still able to boost at fading party. Wonder what happened to the band.

Stereo MC's combine soul, rap and techno sound in an amazing mix of soul stirring music. This is the type of music you want to dance to or just listen to and feel the beat.
