This story is both a whimsical fantasy and a social satire chock-full of brilliant Twainisms. Hank Morgan, a 19th century American-a Connecticut Yankee-by a stroke of fate is sent back into time to 6th century England and ends up in Camelot and King Arthur's Court. Although of average intelligence, he finds himself with knowledge beyond any of those in the 6th century and uses it to become the king's right hand man, and to challenge Merlin as the court magician. Astounded at the way of life in Camelot, Hank does the only thing he can think of to do: change them. In his attempt to civilize medieval Camelot he experiences many challenges and misadventures. The text is unabridged and includes 82 vintage illustrations from the original 1889 edition.

About the Author
Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910) is better known by the pen name Mark Twain. He was born in Florida, Missouri and grew up along the Mississippi Valley. Although he left school at the age of 12, when his father died, he was eventually awarded honorary degrees from Yale University, the University of Missouri, and Oxford University. His career encompassed such varied occupations as printer, miner, Mississippi riverboat pilot, journalist, travel writer, novelist, and publisher. His vivid imagination, keen sense of humor, and sharp wit resulted in some of the most beloved classics of American literature. His novels include such favorites as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Prince and the Pauper, and The Connecticut Yankee in King Author's Court.

Great unabridged version,

Bought this as a gift for my husband. He loved the story and said it was one of his favorite Mark Twain books. It was very important that I picked an unabridged version and this was one of the few that actually said unabridged. A good buy!
