5.0 out of 5 stars Please TRY THIS before buying this part January 24, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Before buying a 72-pin connector, please try cleaning your system first. I bought this connector and the item was in great condition - nothing wrong with it. However, it did not fix my problem (when turning on my NES, the screen and power light would flash on and off). To fix the problem, I took my system apart again, took off the 72-pin connector, and then I used metal cleaner/polish on the row of metal leads that the connector plugs into on the system board. Rubbing alcohol will not give you the same results - the metal cleaner immediately pulled up layers of dirt. The metal leads didn't even look dirty, but it was amazing how black my cloth became from rubbing. I spent a good 10-15 minutes cleaning the leads until no more black/dark green residue appeared on the cloth, and then I re-assembled the system. I then cleaned my game cartridges the same way (you'll need a 3.8mm screwdriver bit to take the screws off the back of the cartridge), and then I tried it out. My system worked, without any problems. Before buying a replacement 72-pin connector, please try to clean the metal leads inside your system and inside your game cartridges.

2.0 out of 5 stars Connectors... August 27, 2012
Verified Purchase
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
The major issuewith this type of connector design (yes, it is slightly different form the original) is the pins are held in very weakly. After putting in a older cartridge that had a thicker PCB board, I found several pins pushed out the back of the connector, with another few bent and permenantly broken.

I'd avoid this connector, and look elsewhere. Unfortunately, since we dont have hi-rez pics here, you never know if you get a good or bad connector until it comes in.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy elsewhere! Don't buy cheap! February 17, 2013

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought mine from G Dreamer and they are crap. They look warped and do not look new. Looks like they are refurbished, not new like they are said to be. They worked for a few games, but it was almost impossible to get out and also stopped working after about 5 games going in and out. I have bought others off eBay for a little more and its worth the extra money!

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Tight February 7, 2012

Works fine, but the games are extremely tight now. Very difficult to get out of the NES. Have had to use pliers a few times to get the games out. Hopefully it will loosen up with more use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well, it works October 26, 2009

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I had a really old and really bad 72 pin connector in my old NES. I didn't want to throw the NES away, so I bought this thing and replaced the old connector. Seems to work so I can't complain. I've heard that if you can find a gold plated one you should get that instead (better connectivity). Personally I play roms on my pc using the nes controller to usb adapter. I bought this connector because I wanted to make the old console functional so I wouldn't feel like it's junk.

2.0 out of 5 stars Low quality February 21, 2014
Verified Purchase
The one I received looked like it had been opened and repackaged. On installation the first time it didn't work unless I held the cart all the way down. The front pins looked really low so I bent them up which seems to have made it work so far.

This item deserves a 5 star because it brought back what I thought I had lost, my NES. It was simple to open the counsel and replace this part and it made my NES work like new. If you want to bring your NES back from the dead, this is your means.

4.0 out of 5 stars NES works again... but not perfect
Worked pretty well but games were really really tight for awhile. I don't think it's as good as a brand new unit however. Still have to try games 3 or 4 times before they work. Read more
