I was invited to give this a listen. Glad I did! If you are into 'Mellow' there's a song on here for you. Connye Florance has a nice voice, smooth and sultry. I particularly like "Strange Thing" and "Memories of You". She has a bright career ahead and I'm looking forward to hearing more from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars What?..... She's not a household word?, November 5, 2001

This has got to be heard to be believed. It's the ultimate smooth embodiment of classic jazz.
Diana Krall, no disrespect intended, is perhaps a "great white hope" in the field, and as a result garners far more attention and regard than her voice and artistry, could they stand on their own, merit. Krall is a good singer, Connye Florance absolutely smokes!
The words are beautifully written and Kevin Madill and Leon Russell have done an excellent job of producing this album. Congratulations to all y'all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inviting, October 29, 2001

This review is from: Connye Florance (Audio CD)
Yesterday, a friend popped in Connye's cd on my player and it was so refreshing, upbeat, mellow, jazzy, reminiscent of Phyllis Hyman, and other great songstress. It was inviting in that I wanted more...each track invited me to listen closer and get to know this person and the lyrics. The music gets your attention and your feet and body snapping to it...the lyrics keep you, it's a total package. Definitely one to own and tell my friends who too are starving for a fresh new sound in dull old Music City, USA!!

I have really enjoyed listening to this CD. It contains some good new music and a rendition of an old favorite, "This Masquerade." I especially enjoyed "After the Rain." Connye's voice is mellow and smooth. I am looking forward to hearing more from her. This is the type of music you can listen to any time. It's great for relaxing and unwinding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Ever, November 8, 2001
This review is from: Connye Florance (Audio CD)
I have immensely enjoyed listening to this CD from Connye Florance. It includes songs which should become new classics and a smooth rendition of an old favorite. Who could ask for anything more? It sounds great. I am especially fond of "After the Rain." Most people can identify with these lyrics that describe a heartbreak. I wish I could hear this music and music like this on a radio station in my hometown. I wish Connye much success! I'm looking forward to much more from Connye.

5.0 out of 5 stars RHYTHMIC, RAPTUOUS AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, October 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Connye Florance (Audio CD)
Connye Florance's self-titled cd is an enjoyable experience. Perfect for a candlelit bubble bath or an intimate evening with someone special. I personally enjoy the range of emotion that Connye explores in all of the songs - which are about love. The musical moods and lyrics travel from funky grooves and vocals with attitude, to sad melodies and some happy feelings that make you want to sing. "Ordinary Dreams" is especially interesting, taking a turn to an African feel and language in the middle of the song that almost seemed to put me in a trance. I also really like "Back In Your Arms" and "After The Rain". This album is not like the "heady" nature of a lot of jazz music. It seems to have a lot of different elements. The arrangements are accessible to different tastes, I believe. I enjoy a lot of jazz, but some of it goes beyond my understanding. I usually prefer r&b, but much of today's music in this area is not interesting enough. This album fits right in the middle for me. Jazzy, sexy, soulful, funky, moving and intelligent. Ms. Florance's vocals are superb, warm and full of emotion. I am recommending this cd to all of my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smoooooooth as fine wine!, September 27, 2001

Connye has a elegant and unique style that is rythmic, spiritual and sultry. Very easy to listen to.... I can leave this CD in my player all day and night and never get tired. The songs are catchy as well as soothing. The musical artist on this CD(Kevin Madill, Mark Douthit and "Rock") are AWESOME! I hope the music listening world catches on to this young woman..SOON. This CD warrants constant airplay. I can't decide which tune is my favorite! I look forward to hearing more of her. She is REFRESHING! Welcome Back Leon Russell...GREAT JOB!
